I have a 2004 Chevy Malibu. and recently, the interrior lights and Instrument/tail lights fuses keep blowing out. I replace them, and the next day or sometimes within hours they fuses will be blown again. My guess is there is a short somewhere, but I have no idea where to even begin to look. Anyone have any advice, or have run into a similar problem?

You are correct, now to find out what circuit is blowing the fuse.If the car was in a accident check that area first.Chances are its interrior or running lights.lets start with interrior lights, install new fuse turn on interrior lights on for 1/2 hour.if fuse blows remove interrior lamp lenses and look for one of the hot wires to be shorted out on the body.To check the tail lights turn off the interrior lights and turn on the running lights. If fuse blows start with any damaged areas, check the trunk area for damage to the wire harness,if you have a trailer hitch chcek the trailer harness for damage.theres no easy fix here, hope I have been some help. Thanks for using FixYa......Ray

Where is tail light fuse for Chevy Malibu 2003?

The fuse for the horn can not make it blow.only a bad horn switch/button can do that. The tail light fuse should be marked in the fuse panel. If you have the vehicle manual you can most likely find it in there.

Tail lights not working

You'll need to check the lamp sockets for shorts, then the wiring back to the switch. This includes the front parking lights.

The Tail lights and Instrument lights are usually on the same circuit so both will go out if the fuse for the circuit blows. Check for a blown fuse for this circuit and replace if out. If fuse continues to fail, check the tail light or side globes for a faulty globe and replace if necessary. Also check for any chafed wires that could be shorting to the body causing the fuse to blow.

Are the bulbs out of the sockets and the fuse blows?
Take bulbs out and check again
Place one back at a time if fuse was OK with bulbs out to locate bad bulb.
Otherwise.......
Do this........if still needed with bulbs out and fuse blowing.
Put a circuit breaker in to replace the fuse of the same amperage.
It will trip off then back on.
Use a standard cheap magnetic compass........place along lighting wiring........the wire with current will cause the needle to jump as circuit breaker trips on and off.
Follow path of current to problem.....the compass will stop moving once past the shorted /grounded wire/connection.

Yes it could definitely be related to a bad dimmer control. You have a partial short to ground somewhere in your dimmer control circuit. Pull the dimmer control and measure resistance to ground at the circuit connections.
