We formatted our laptop a few days ago and now found out that we dont have our sound card installed and since the cd reader is not working we cant install the sound card from the laptop cd

The issue may be with your card reader or your card, if you installed the driver with the SD in the port and in the lock position then it may have messed with the functionality of the port.

I suggest you move any/all files from the card and then format it, or re-install the driver that corresponds to your SD card reader on your computer. If you cant do anything with the SD card as is, then re-install the driver for the card reader first, then try to format or write to the card.

I had an issue with formatting a card while ago, if you try both solutions above then use a 3rd party formatting program. I will paste a link below.

If you have the cd installer of the acer aspire 3000 PC. Insert it to your cdrom drive and the autoplay will execute and load the cd installer. Install only the audio driver so that your hardware will be fix.

In case you do not have the cd installer, you can also download the driver installer from their official website and install the audio driver after downloading or visit this acer support website.

After installing the audio driver but still no sound, download this codec this will play all the multimedia format. Click this link and click the download latest version for mozilla firefox browser click save, for internet explorer after clicking the download latest version click the (To help protect your security) then click download file then click save button. Hello, you can recover the pictures directly from your camera without needing cables if you have a card reader.

If you do have a card reader, then:

1. Open your camera's memory slot
2. Remove memory card
3. Insert memory card in your PC or laptop's memory card reader.
4. The card will then appear on My PC exactly like any pendrive.
5. After you're done copying photos, click over the system tray's "Safely remove Hardware" icon, and select the memory card.
6. Wait until Windows prompts you that it's safe to remove the hardware.
7. Put the memory card back on the camera.

Before you start, please make sure you have a reader that can read and write to 2GB card properly. DO NOT use in built-in reader on laptop and desktop, or old readers made 2 years or longer ago, because these readers can only use up to 1GB card. I recommend using it in external USB 2.0 reader that is made within 1 year ago.

If you do not have such reader, then connect the device (gps/camera/pda/camcorder) to the computer with USB cable and the card inserted and if works you should see new drive letters show up under My Computer.
Otherwise, if used in devices that do not support the 2GB card, the card will be damaged.


Please try the following troubleshooting guide first and see if it can solve the problem. Try one step at a time. If one works, then you can stop trying. You don't need to try all of them.
The following guide will erase all the data on the drive/card. So make sure you backup your data first before you try the steps below:


1. First, remove the card/drive from your computer.

Download the low level format tool below to your computer.

Install the program into your computer.
You should see a new icon called "Hard Disk Low Level Format Tool".
a. Insert the card/drive and run the program.
IMPORTANT!!! MAKE SURE YOU SELECT THE CORRECT DISK OR YOUR COMPUTER MAY NOT START LATER!!!
It should shows as BUS: USB. Select the BUS: USB. Also check the size and make sure.
If you don't see BUS: USB, that means the card is unreadable and need to be replaced. In this case, please STOP here and close the program and DO NOT continue below.
b. Then click Continue->Low Level Format->Format this Device.
c. Wait for a few minutes until it finish successfully with a message of asking you to partition and format it. (if you see formatting error, you can stop the formatting and the card needs to be replaced.)
d. Flash Card:
Put the card back into your device and then use the format utility in the device to format the card.

omg... put your memory card with the bigger card witch you get when buying a memory card into the computer. i do everything with usb but if you cant then do it this way

plz install the sound drivers from the motherboard cd or download it from the manufacture of your laptop

No sound card was found. If one is expected, you should install a sound driver provided by the hardware manufacturer.
