How do you reinstall something

  • Hi, if your trying to "Re-install the Norton Security Software, and you had a problem or error while "Installing"; do the following: check the "Firewall," check to see if the Firewall is blocking the "Program" from being downloaded. Next check to see if there is already a "Security" software setup on the computer that is "conflicting with the download / reinstalling. You may need to have someone that have experience in checking theses areas if you have trouble finding them. I'm going to give you direct instruction to go to these areas you need to check. First, click on the "Start Button" when the window open, look in the (right side pane area) find the "Icon, Control Panel, click on it to open. There will be alot of listings, choose the "Security; Allow a program through Windows Firewall." There will be (3) buttons in the "Top" area of the next window, select the "Exception" button, click on the "Add program..." the window will change again, scroll through the "Programs until you find "Norton Security" and "highlight' just click on it, and "Click on the OK button. Restart the computer open the "software" you want to "Install / Reinstall and select to Install; follow all the instructions. Now if there is another security software interfering with the install, you have to go back to the "control Panel again, select to open, in the next window click on the (Programs) "Uninstall a program," find the software (highlight to uninstall), once you are finished, restart the computer; this will fix everything properly, if all goes well. "I hope for the best! Rating the solution is appreciated if you found it helpful, thank you."

I need to reinstall norton anti virus 2009. I have a subscription until Oct 2010

What anti-virus were you using? Or have you just deleted the software ? You should always do a clean install of all software and make sure you have no anti-virus on the system before you install norton.
1.go to start
2.control panel
3.add and remove programs
4. make sure all anti-virus programs are un-installed
5. if norton is by chance on the system you will need to go to their site and dowload the norton removal tool so you don't have any conflicks.
6.If you have a disk , insert it now and follow the prompts
7. if you purchased this online then you will need your e-mail address and password ( if you've forgotten they will e-mail it to you ) and install fron the online site .

Hi. My Antispy located a worm AutoIt/Renocide.gen!B.

try again..... restart pc ...try to access live update via norton anti virus software..if no joy remove norton antivirus and reinstall software.ps if you try to reinstall norton without first removing norton software will do this for you , may a better option bacause sometimes windows remove app leaves data behind which can sometimes cause problems especially with norton antivirus.
if it was me I'd wipe my pc and reinstall fresh and all software because if you make mistake with norton youre gonna end up having to reinstall everything anyway.there is a program off the net on norton site called norton removal tool ...this is just the job ...if you cant find it let me know and I will either send you the net page for it or can upload it to you via email....

Norton 360

You should contact the company directly as they will need to help you get this working. They are the only ones with the serial keys. If you would like a more inexpensive option try AVG Free. http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition
If you like the software you can purchase Internet Security. I like AVG much better then norton personally, but since you have already paid for it contact them.

If your Norton 2006 product came pre-installed on your computer, and you are using a limited subscription of 30, 60 or 90 days, you do not have a product key.

If you need to get your product CD or installation file, contact your vendor. Once you have your product CD or installation file, then return here and continue with STEP 3 below.

If the product is currently not installed on your computer, check the Product Key at the back of the CD sleeve, or in the confirmation email that you received from Symantec for your download purchase. Once you write down the Product Key, go to STEP 3.

1 Open your Norton product. 2 In the upper-right corner of the main product window, click Help & Support > Norton Account. 3  Choose one of the following depending on what your product Status is:

  • The Status of my product is "Not Saved"
You have not yet created a Norton Account. Follow these steps:
    1. Click your Norton product, then click Save Product Key.
    2. Complete the form to create a new Norton Account, then click Submit.
    3. Click Next, then skip to line 5 below.
  • The Status of my product is "Saved"
Click your Norton product, then click Retrieve Product Key. Then continue with line 4 below.
4 Type in your email address and password for your Norton Account, then click Log on. 5 In the My Products window, click your product, then write down your Product key. You need your product key to reinstall your product later. 6 Close the window, then click OK in the Norton Account window. 7 Close your Norton product, then continue with STEP 3 below.

Here Save the file to the Windows desktop.

2 On the Windows desktop, double-click the Norton Removal Tool icon. 3 Follow the on-screen instructions.  Your computer may be restarted more than once, and you may be asked to repeat some steps after the computer restarts.
