I have a vxl-3s velineon i got 3 weeks ago and i have a lipo 3s 11.1v that i have been running for about 3 days and i run it for about 30 to 40 min. at a time and now when i turn it on its green for two sec. and it go's red and it blinks two times and it turn off so i called hobbytown and he said it overheated is that it and what do i do
This problem is very common with the traxxas vxl 3-s speed control. If you were previously running it in 70 degrees or above without a cooling fan, hobbytown is correct. If you have a fan, or it is cool outside, try your best to return the speed control for a new one.
Mine did exactly the same thing, I didnt realize something was wrong until I put my heat monitor on it, first was 127 c then jumped to 175, before I could unplug everything it went "pop" . traxxis said send it back for repairs (50bucks ugh) .
I am not going to run Li Po (the 11.1 volt anyway) . I dont think the esc is strong enough, I will let you know what traxxis says.
My vxl-3s went out on me 2 weeks ago. I belive that the ez set button got stuck. So it would not come out of profile selection mode. Unless I pulled it up with an instrument of some type. I called traxxas. First time they said to drill a small hole, then put a small screw in it to turn it into a manual button. I was unhappy with the solutions and the way the guy talked to me. Said it would be 55 bucks. So I called again awhile later. The second guy listened intently, tried his best to resolve the issue over the phone to no avail. So he started an rma number and told me to send the esc in. All I had to pay was shipping to them. They decided to replace it free of charge. So call them, and see what they say. Be nice but firm. I have heard of a lot of people having trouble with the vxl-3s. I think the overall design is good, but the durability is not so good. Well we will see what happens with this one
