I have an Audiostrider 800 elliptical machine. We had been using batteries, but decided to get an ac adapter. After plugging the machine in, There is a clicking noise coming from the motor area, and the display no longer works. Even if unplugged and back on batteries, it makes a clicking noise, and nothing works. Any thoughts. thanks
The way to tell if your NordicTrack digital console is bad is to troubleshoot it first. If nothing works, you've got a bad console. The digital console is an important part of exercising. A manual machine will still work even if the console doesn't, but an automated machine needs the console to work so you can adjust things like speed, resistance and incline. You also can't use programs or see your time, distance or estimated calories burned without a working console. The two most common reasons that a console will be dim, display bad results, or won't turn on are bad batteries and a problem with the reed switch.
Replace the Batteries
1
Replace the batteries first, if your machine has batteries. A manual machine such as the NordicTrack MTN 740 will not need batteries, and instead the console is powered by your moving the steps. Check your manual if you are unsure of which batteries to buy. Different machines will require different batteries. The NordicTrack Mini Stepper uses watch batteries, but larger machines will likely need AA or D batteries.
2
Take off the cover to the battery compartment. Remove and discard the old batteries. Replace all of the batteries, not just one if you happen to have one good one. Align them correctly with the "+" and "-" signs as shown on the compartment.
3
Replace the battery cover and attempt to turn on the console.
Reset the Circuit Breaker
1
Check the circuit breaker. A machine such as the NordicTrack CXT 990 will have a circuit breaker located on the front of the machine. The console will not work if the circuit breaker is tripped.
2
Push the circuit breaker in if it protrudes until it sticks.
3
Try to turn on the console. Check the circuit breaker for your house if this does not fix the console problem.
Adjust the Reed Switch
1
Inspect the reed switch as the information on the display will not be true if the reed switch is too far from the flywheel on NordicTrack machines such as the MTN 740.
2
Unscrew the two M10 by 82mm button bolts on the right pedal bracket. Unscrew the two M10 nylon locknuts. Pull off the pedal bracket and set aside.
3
Remove the two M4 by 38mm screws. Remove the three M4 by 25mm screws. Slide the right side shield off to expose the flywheel, magnet reed switch.
4
Unscrew the screw that holds the reed switch in place but do not remove it. Slide the reed switch toward the flywheel but leave enough space that the magnet can move freely. Replace the shield and bracket

I do not know anything about your machine. But from a general mechanical standpoint. It sounds as if the belt is not routed properly, or is the wrong size. You can also inspect where the belt rides for debris from the old belt. Something could be stuck somewhere. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
Simple solution...use WD40 and spray in and around any moving touching parts. No mess, fuss, no screwdrivers needed
I keep my elliptical moving silently that way
DEAR
AT FIRST YOU COUNT YOUR BAT AND MULTIPLY 1.5 THEN YOU USE A ADAPTER AC TO DC WITH SAME VOLTAGE LIKE 6 V OR 9V DC

replace batteries and proceed with this steps and fix it. God bless you
Check power problems if the console on the elliptical
machine does not light up. Make sure that the plug for the machine is
secure in the outlet. If it is plugged in, ensure that the outlet is
receiving power. Check the breaker to make sure it has not tripped off.
Be sure that you are using the correct adapter that came with the
elliptical machine. Because different adapters are able to handle
differing amounts of energy, the wrong adapter will not transfer
electricity like it should. If the adapter is pinched or damaged, this
could also alter its effectiveness.
2
Make sure the correct adapter is being used if the
resistance settings seem to be too hard or too easy. If the correct
adapter is being used, reset the machine. To reset the machine, either
switch the "On/Off" button or unplug the machine from the wall. Doing
this will allow the device to reset itself to the default resistance.
Turn on or plug the device back into the wall and retry all of the
levels of resistance.
follow this steps and replace batteries and clean the contacts batteries. God bless you

Chad Gilbert-- I'm having the same problem with my Audiostrider 800. Fan works, screen and soft buttons do nothing. I dont mean to sound dumb, but where are these motor brushes? Are they attached to the resistance motor or somewhere else? What exactly am I looking for? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
