If it is set to only play region 4 discs, then that's what the player can do - you cannot change the region code and I don't believe there is a hack to unlock this particular model to make it region-free.

The only types of discs acceptable are those which match the region of the player or discs which are 0 (region-free). I have never found a menu option to change region settings in any player. It is not modifiable nor accessible. There may be a player on the market which is multi-region compatible and will play your region 2 DVDs perfectly; just not this one. It is a restriction, not a fault.

Do not fix what isn't broken.

u can reset the dvd player, i.e
1.turn off your player
2.press and hold stop botton in the front panel on the player and then press and hold on/standby button on the front panel(not on remote)

How can I unlock Sharp DV-SL2200W

To unlock your DV-SL2200W player follow the below instruction.
1. Switch the player on without disc
2. Using the remote control press "HOME MENU"
3. Select "INITIAL SETTING"
4. Select "OPTION" on screen
5. Press "OSD" button
6. Press buttons, 3,5,7,0
7. The player will automatically shut down
8. Switch the player back on
Now you player will be Multi Region.

- press eject (tray open)
- press stop
- press 734466

select 0 on OSD for region free

DVD drives region settings can be changed to view DVDs from different region, but on the 4th change the DVD player will lock on the 4th region change.
The DVD player can be made region free by upgrading the firmware, if it is available, but if you make a mistake the the DVD player will be a piece of junk.
The best way to make a DVD player region free is to install a piece of software on the computer to make the DVD player region free.

Don't know how to hack dv-slv8. But you can get yourself a piece of region free player software which allows you to play DVD and Blu-ray discs from all regions.
