I get this error code every 9 months or so with my DMR78.... Every time, I pull the dishwasher out, remove the cover, and then clean out the float on the left side of the dishwasher (the white plastic piece in the bottom center in the attached picture). That float get's suprisingly gunked up, and then it won't move properly (it's really a pretty poor design). It's a bit of a pain to remove the float to clean, but cleaning it fixes this problem every time.
Order a replacment and your problem will go away! P/N DD94-01006A
Kevin, Thank you for your original post. After cleaning mine several times, I finally just replaced it. Never could get it clean enough. After replacement, I have had almost 3 months with no faults.
Thanks Dan. I actually just replaced this dishwasher three nights ago. It came up with a "PE" error instead of the familiar "9E" one. After a little Googling I determined that it needed a new mother board, which costs about $105. I decided I didn't want to spend another dime on this piece of junk dishwasher, so we went out and bought ourselves an LG dishwasher because we love our LG washing machine and refrigerator. Hopefully I won't have to take this one apart every year!
Kevin is spot on. I don't usually - but I bought the 5-yr extended warranty this time. Tech had to come out every 8 months! Even "prewashing" our dishes by hand didn't fix this issue. It's just a poor design which leads to a lot of mold buildup & the 9E error. On our techs last house call he showed us how to do the very same thing Kevin described in his fix. I LOVE the minimalist appearance of this unit. No visible buttons and only a very small LED screen. But it's too bad about the float problem. Our warrenty is out and thankfully after 5 years we are able to file a lemon claim and get our money back!

Fyi, I got the 9E error code. I opened the dishwasher and banged the drain looking thing on the bottom left hand side. And now she works...mm as you can tell I am not a technician of any kind...just thought I would post some positive information. oh I also flipped the breaker, and it seemed to reset the computer on the machine.....
Hi,
his error code 9e is due to Low water pressure.
It can be due to:
1.Water valve may be faulty
2. Water supply hose may be kinked or bent.
3. Faulty electronic parts.
Unfortunately most of the time this is not a home handy person fix.
This time, you will need a hands on tech on location.
The service manual says:This error code 9e is due to Low water pressure.
We are detectives. the more information the customer is capable of giving us the better chance we can solve the customers repair. There can not be a pinpoint answer for electronic problems in all appliances without having the proper testing of parts on location. Since we can not be in your home to test it, you need to have the capability and equipment to do the testing your self. Or unfortunately, the problem is no longer a home handy person fix and will require a hands on tech on location.
Only you can make this decision.
The ball is in your court!
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
I bough a $500 tax samsung 2 years ago and got the 9e error after 15 months, past the warranty. It was a water level value under the machine that cost almost $200 to fix. Well, 10 months later I have the same error code. What garbage. Bought a new machine today to stop throwing good $ after a bad machine. BTW it never cleaned well, left the dishes wet and smelled even after it finished cleaning. Never again will I buy Samsung!!!

I was not willing to pay the repair guy so I fixed it myself by cleaning the float switch housing on the bottom left side. It was full of slim and probable the cause of the other issue... bad smell coming from the dishwasher. Both are fixed now but what a pain!
Here is a temporary fix that will usually work. When you get the 9E error, the float is stuck in the 'up' position. sometimes 'slapping' the LHS interior just past the plastic disk will drop the float and allow the DW to work
i also have fixed many of these. u need to pull dw out to remove steel panel on left bottom outside. under that u will see a plastic float asy. u can take it apart and clean it. the error is usually just the float stuck
I replaced mine due to being unable to get it clean enough! Order P/N DD94-01006A

The older Models have a float and mechanical/electric switch. My 2010 model DMT800RHS/XAA has two diode sensors. Cleaning the float chambers did no good, it still gave a code 9E.
I noticed that the error occurred as the float reached the top sensor, it knows when to stop the water fill, but for no reason gives the error code then drains the tub. I decided this is a designed obsolescence tactic, so I cut the white wire on the top sensor leading back to the mother board telling it there is a problem when there isn't. Problem solved. Works like it's supposed to now,(except the timer display doesn't light up, but nobody needs that anyway) no more error codes. You have to look for these things just like the designed printer failure in the documentary, The Light Bulb Conspiracy.

Thanks, not quite the answer I was hoping for but appreciated all the same. (was hoping not to hear I had to get a tech out to look at the unit :)
What your saying makes sense and since I already replaced the water supply hose that leaves me with only a faulty valve or electronics. Both of which I don't want to tackle without the proper diagnostic tools. Thanks again for the quick reply. -Mike
I had this problem. The repairman came out and found that the water level floater was dirty and not floating creating the 9e code. He recommended using something like Dishwasher Magic occasionally to keep the dishwasher clean since it's not easy to reach the floater and clean it out.
We followed the advice of cleaning the carriage which houses the floater located on the outside left panel of the dishwaher...it was loaded with brown slimy gunk...dishwasher working well now!!! no more 9E error code...Thanks for saving me $1000 on a new dishwasher:-)
Just cleaned mine. It worked
we are having the same issue with the 9e code. did you actuallly pull out your dishwasher to fix the problem or is it on the inside? where exactly is the outlside left panel?
It's a full debris overflow error. Watch this to fix it:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXHRPd8V...
9E error code on my DW80F800UWS. Was also getting OE codes. People said to replace the case assy. I did, still 9E codes. Put back original case assy after cleaning (this model doesn't have a mechanical float). Called Samsung. They were useless. Said I had to purchase the service manual from a parts dealer.
Found the service manual online. Here you go:
https://www.manualslib.com/download/1105...
Manual says to replace the ECS sensor. Bought one and went to replace it. Old one was covered in slime. Cleaned it and also cleaned out area under the cap inside over the sensor. It is located under the screen on the bottom near the heating element. I replaced the heating element a few months ago, so I knew how to replace the ECS sensor rather easily.
Anyway, long story short. Clean your machine. It probably doesn't need a new part at all. Sent the ECS sensor back as well. Machine is working like new again.

They haven't posted it yet as of 7/16/19, but should be up soon.
