I am upgrading hard drive on T6528. Is it compatible with a 3Gb/sec sata hard drive? It does have an option to use as 1.5Gb/sec.

Check your PC if it can accommodate sata and if the board supports 3gb/sec on the bios. if not check for possible firmware upgrade to support it.

Toshiba hdd

As far as I know it is not possible to remove a password from a hard disk. In some cases a manufacturer may be able to help, however, for security reasons I'm not sure they would.

Hitachi H3D10003272S, 3GB/S or 6GB/S ?

That hard drive has a Sata II (3b/s) interface so you won't get any extra performance from a Sata III (6b/s) port, but it will still run, but it will run as Sata II (3b/s).

Any it should be 3gb not 3gB
b = bit
B = byte
byte = 8 bits

So you would think that a 3gb/s would operate at 375MB/s but manufacturers advertise everything as 10bits = 1 byte so you have to take the speed or even hard drive size and multiple by .8 to get the actual speed 375 * .8 = 300MB actual speed.

My toshiba external hdd can t be formatted

you would either format or delete all of the data from this drive if it has an operating system on it you would format it
you have to format your hard drive using a third party disc to erase everything on your hard drive
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS the scroll to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to cd,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos restart
note this will erase you operating system you will have to have an operating system disk to load it onto you hard drive or create a partition to load another operating system
note after you have loaded the operating system you should go back and change the first boot device to your hard drive
The BIOS is AMI. Under ADVANCED SETUP:
The options listed for 1st,2nd ,3rd Boot device include:
IDE0 means Pri master
IDE1 means Pri slave
IDE2 means Sec master
IDE3 means Sec slave

or if you are using a USB
insert your usb drive
click start right click on my computer select open you should see your USB drive
right click then select format
another way is to control panel administrive tools,computer management disk management right click on your drive select format
hope this helps you

Looking for what kind of processor upgrade

Well it seems you can go up to at least a 3.6GHZ processor. It is socket 775, so any Processor that will fit will in all likelihood work fine. As for the hard drive well I like 7200RPM 8MB Cache 3GB/sec SATA drive. or similar spec, & truthfully one brand is as good as another... But if forced to say.. well Seagate.
Also if you want a fast machine RAM as MUCH as you can put onboard and afford.
I have found a manual here for you. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim9100/en/D86630LRs.pdf
