If the TV does not turn on or off, does not respond to the remote
control or control-panel buttons, or has audio but no video,
Press and hold the POWER button on the control panel for ten seconds.
The TV will turn off. Power on the TV and the green LED will flash
quickly for about one minute. The changes you made most recently,
before using SYSTEM RESET, maybe lost
Hello Jeff;
If the TV does not turn on or off, does not respond to the remote
control or the control panel buttons, or has audio but no video:
1.) Press and hold the POWER button on the control panel for ten seconds. The TV will turn off.
2.) Power on the TV and the green LED will flash quickly for about one minute. The changes you made most recently, before using SYSTEM RESET, may be lost.
If the TV does not respond to the remote control or to the control-panel buttons and TV will not power on or off.
• Unplug the AC power cord for 10 seconds.
• Press and hold the POWER button on the control panel for 10
seconds to perform a system reset.
If the TV turned itself off and the light on the front panel started to flash:
• Momentary power fluctuation can cause the TV to turn off to prevent damage. Wait for the green light to stop flashing and turn the TV on again.
• If the TV does not stay on, press the POWER button on the
control panel for ten seconds to perform a System Reset. If this happens frequently, obtain an AC line power conditioner/surge protector.
• An unusual digital signal may have been received, triggering a
protection circuit. Wait for the light to stop flashing and turn TV
on.
If the TV will not power off, press the POWER button on the control panel for ten seconds to perform a System Reset.

I would not recommend using compressed air or any other method that would blow dust around- since the dust could make its way into the set's circuitry via the grille or vents and cause problems. Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment instead.

MY philips tv model number 55PL9773/17 WAS TURNING OFF THE SCREEN AND LEAVING THE AUDIO ON FOR ONE MINUTE. THEN THE YELLOW LIGHT STAYED ON. THEN THE LIGHT TURNED OFF. thEN I TURNED ON WITH THE REMOTE AND THE YELLOW LIGHT TURNED ON AND A FEW SECONDS LATER CHANGED TO THE GREEN LIGHT AND THE TV TURNED ON. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, BETWEEN 10 AND 30 IT DID THE SAME THING. NOW IT IS OFF WITH A BLINKING RED LIGHT PERMANENTLY ON. TO TURN IT OFF I HAVE TO UNPLUG IT FROM THE WALL. I REPLACE THE LAMP A FEW WEEKS AGO AND IT IS FINE.
SYSTEM RESET If the TV will not respond to either the remote control or the front panel controls and/or will not power Off, press the SYSTEM RESET button with a pointed item like the end point of a paperclip. The TV will turn Off and the TIMER light will flash quickly for about one minute. When the TIMER light stops flashing, you may turn on the TV again. Changes you made the last time the TV was On before you used the SYSTEM RESET button may be lost, however, the changes you made previously are not lost. POWER/TIMER Indicator The green light is a multi-function indicator. This light will flash rapidly for about one minute each time the TV is plugged into the wall electrical outlet, when power is restored after a power failure, or using the SYSTEM RESET button. Do not attempt to turn on the TV again during this period. Wait for the flashing to stop and the light to turn off, before attempting to turn the TV on. While the TV is powered on, the light illuminates steadily. If the TV has been programmed to turn on automatically using the Timer feature,
1) Use 2 new AA batteries in RC32 remote control; 2) Slide mode switch to "TV"; 3) Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys at the same time until the green light under the selected switch position flashes twice, then release both keys. 4) Enter 9-9-1-1. 5) Press PWR button on TV. 6) Point the remote at the TV and press CHAN+. Repeatedly press CHAN+ until the TV turns off. Every time CHAN+ is pressed the remote advances to the next code and power is transmitted to the component. 7) Use the CHAN- key to step back a code. 8) When the TV turns off, stop pressing the CHAN+ key. Then, press and release the SELECT key. If the light flashes 3 times before the TV or component responds, you've cycled through all codes and the code you need is not available. You must use the TV remote control. 9) To verify the code, slide the MODE switch to the appropriate position. 10) Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys at the same time until the green light under the selected switch position flashes twice, then release both keys. 11) Enter 9-9-0. (The green light under the selected switch position flashes twice.) 12) To view the first digit in the code, Press and release then number 1 key. Wait three seconds, and count the number of times the green light flashes. Write this number down in the TV owner manual. 13) Press number 2 for the second digit, 3 for the third digit, 4 for the fourth digit and 5 for the final digit.
To control TV volume from Directv RC32: 1. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys until the green light under the DIRECTV position flashes twice, then release both keys. 2. Using the number keys, enter 9-9-3. (The green light will flash twice after the 3.) 3. Press and release the VOL+ key. (The green light flashes 4 times.)
