Mac Leopard OS: Can't print from photo tray

Hi,

Do you have a solution for this? there just is no place to choose the option to print from the photo tray. I have to remove my 8x11 paper and put in photo paper on main tray whenever I want to print. This printer worked fine on my PC.

I experienced an issue where I could not print from the photo tray of the c5180.   I tried the export method described on the other page, but no "HP Photosmart" tab was present...

    Any assistance would be appreciated

I can't print from photo tray and I use Windows Vista

  • rosyrotten47 Feb 25, 2009

I'm having the same problem.   When I tried to use the Export from iPhoto on OS X 10.5, there was no "HP Photosmart" tab present.   There were other tabs on it: File Export (which has kind, quality, size, file name), web page, QuickTime and Slideshow.   When I click on Export, I get Save As and Where.   When I pulled down the where, the HP Photosmart was not available to be used.
Please help.   I'm an avid scrapbooker and printing just one 4x6 photo onto a 8x11.5 photo paper is a waste of paper.

Here's the trick. It took me an hour to figure this puzzle out myself. DO NOT select the Print icon at the bottom of iPhoto. Do NOT select Print from the File menu. DO select EXPORT from the File menu. Select the HP Photosmart Mac tab Select HP Photosmart Print.app from the app selector. Click the Export button. HP Photosmart Print.app will load with a new print dialog box. Make all necessary selections. This is where you can select the Photo Tray as the tray for the printer to take paper from. This solved MY problem! Let us know if this helps you!

It is not necessary to use Export. I have Leopard and iPhoto 2008. Here is what work for me:

  1. Select photo you want to print
  2. Select File -- Print
  3. In the Print dialog, select the Photosmart printer, select a "Paper Size" of 4x1, and one of the presets that tells it to use Photo Paper.
  4. Click "Print" --> It won't print! Another dialog appears!
  5. A drop-down which highlights "iPhoto" is in this dialog. Click it.
  6. From this drop-down, select "Paper Type/Quality"
  7. FINALLY, you see the option for "Source," which defaults to "Main Tray"
  8. Click on "Main Tray" and change it to "Photo Tray."
  9. DON'T click "Print" yet! Instead, click on the "Presets" drop down and chose "Save As," call it "Use Photo Tray," and you won't have to do this again.

Hp color laserjet 2550l need driver for my mac

Sir/Madam

The latest HP printer driver for devices listed below are built into Mac OS X 10.6. You do not need to download or reinstall any HP software for full printing functionality.
HP LaserJet print drivers are included in Apple's Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD and also available via Apple Software Updates.

Please Visit official HP Printer website Below Link URL:
http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay/?spf_p.tpst=kbDocDisplay&spf_p.prp_kbDocDisplay=wsrp-navigationalState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c01844302-4%257CdocLocale%253D%257CcalledBy%253D&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken#N1000E

Snow Leopard - HP LaserJet printer setup instructions
  1. Upgrade install from Mac OS X v10.4, 10.5:
If updating a Mac using the Snow Leopard DVD, the install process should automatically detect your previous HP printer queue, delete, and then create a new HP printer queue using the latest HP printer drivers included in Snow Leopard.
USB printers:
  1. Make sure printer is turnedOnand connected.
  2. Open a document to print, and then choose File , Print .
  3. Open the Printer pop-up and choose your printer.
  4. If you don't see your printer, choose Add Printer , and then selectMore Printersbutton.
  5. In the Name column, select the printer, then clickAdd.
Network printers:
You can connect to HP printers on your local network that use Bonjour, IP, and Open Directory, as well as shared printers connected to an Apple Airport base station.
NOTE:Apple does NOT support AppleTalk in new Mac OS X 10.6.
  1. Choose File , Print .
  2. Open the Printer pop-up menu and choose your printer. It may be in the Nearby Printers submenu.
  3. If your printer does not appear, choose Add Printer from the Printer pop-up menu.
  4. A dialog appears listing any Bonjour, IP, shared, and Open Directory printers on your local network. It may take a minute or two for your printer to appear.
NOTE:On larger networks, outside the Bonjour link-local network, your printer may not show up in the list. You can connect to the printer using IP. An IP printer is a network printer that uses TCP/IP protocol (such as JetDirect, LPD/LPR, IPP) to communicate with your printer. You need to know the IP address or DNS name.
  1. Click IP in the toolbar.
  2. Select HP Jetdirect - Socket in the Protocol pull down menu.
  3. Enter the printer's information available from printers front panel or printers network configuration page.
  4. The system should automatically bind to the HP print driver in thePrint Usingpull down menu.
  5. ClickAddto create the HP printer queue for your HP LaserJet.
Your computer can usually detect whether a printer has special accessories installed, such as additional paper trays, duplex unit, or extra memory. If it can't, a dialog appears that lets you specify them. Make sure the settings in that dialog accurately reflect your printer's installed options to enable full functionality.
  1. Clean install of Snow Leopard or setting up a new Macintosh with Snow Leopard already installed:
If configuring a new Mac running Snow Leopard or if performing a new or clean install of Snow Leopard:
For USB connected printers, the install process should automatically create a new HP LaserJet printer queue using the latest HP printer drivers included in Snow Leopard.

Hi, Went to the Mac store to upgrade to Snow Leopard and was told my OS was "way too Old to upgrade to Snow Leopard!" Sorry, I'm a numbskull when it comes to these things. Figured as long as...

Apple recommends that if you wish to go from 10.4 to 10.6 then you should purchase the 10.6 Box Set.

System Requirements to run Snow Leopard:
  • Mac computer with an Intel processor
  • 1GB of memory
  • 5GB of available disk space
  • DVD drive for installation
Snow Leopard Installation Instructions:
  1. Just insert the DVD in the optical drive.
  2. Restart your Mac while holding down the C key.
  3. You will be guided through the installation procedure and be prompted at one point to choose which install option you want.
  4. Once the Snow Leopard install is completed the Mac will restart itself.
  5. You will probably be asked to register with Apple upon restart.
  6. Enjoy Snow Leopard on your Mac!

Need Epson Stylus Photo 1270 driver for Macintosh Operating System 10.4.11 - is such still available? What about same for Mac OS Leopard or Snow Leopard? Is this printer still viable for such newer...

I found the Mac OS driver on Epson's driver site.Hit the plus sign to see more information with instructions and a download link.

Not sure what you mean by "viable". Personally if it prints and does what I need it to do reliably/consistently I consider it viable. But that may just be me.

Epson R300 CD/DVD Tray ERROR message with Leopard any Solutions?

One of the guys on this site said read the manual over and over again, and he was right.
You must go to system preferences and choose print and fax. Set the default media to A4. Then in the Print CD program when you hit print your will see fifth line down Epson Print CD on offer. Hit the arrows on the right and choose print settings from the drop down menu and then media type and choose CD / DVD. All should then work. It does on mine.
