My Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S650 started showing unfocused shots about 7 months ago, and has worsened to almost every shot is unfocused. It does not matter what mode it is in, but I usually use the automatic focusing mode.

It is problem of lens mechanism and only solution is to replace lens assembly. Local camera repair shop will help you to replace lens assembly because it is not user level repair.

Initialize function reset all data/ settings to factory defaults including date. I think, LCD Back Light of your cyber-shot is not working and its hardware problem. Contact nearest Sony repair shop.
