Brakes lights stoped working
always start by checking fuses. look in your owner's manual for fuse box locations and fuse locations. check to see if you've got a blown fuse, if you do, replace it with the same amperage fuse. if the new one pops immediately, you've got an electrical short somewhere in the system. if the fuse is good however, check your brake switch which is located on your brake pedal arm under the dash. when the brake pedal is depressed, the switch opens, making the brake lights come on and releasing the neutral safety switch allowing you to shift from park. the brake switch is a common problem, but is a pain to replace in most cars. i recommend you take it to the dealer to have the work done if you have little automotive experience. the labor wont be expensive as it's about a 10 minute repair. and i think the brake switch is one of those parts only available at the dealership anyways.
