It very well is the door switch might be stuck. The way to unstick it is to slam the door. Very often it'll jar the switch loose if that doesn't work you'll need to order one. The solution from testy helped me but I decided to change it.
I cut the plastic latch away from the end of the interlock,just the little bar that holds the door closed.This means that the lock position doesn't affect the door.
I then used the little piece of plastic to act as 2 packing pieces to hold the lock half closed. This works fine.
Don't push the lock fully closed or it doesn't work

the problem here is the machine is not emptying when its supposed to, you will find it is stopping at the rinse cycles. there is a sump underneath the machine that needs to be emptied. From my experiences, 9 out of 10 hotpoints that i would of repaired with the same problem as you are having is usualy caused by using the color catcher sheets, they are a disaster.

when i put my hotpoint aquarius extra wma44 on iy flls with water and then the door lock light comes on....when it has filled with water the machaine will not do its wash...ive changed the door lock unit inside hoping that will fix it but when i switched it on again ...it done it again...can anybody help to see what ive missed out
