Hi,
Here are a couple things you can try:
Go to settings>Mail Options>Choose your AOL account
Select Advanced>Delete messages

"Trash" will probably already be selected, but select it *again*. It won't look like anything happened, but if you go back and try to delete an email, it should work now.

If that doesn't work, try this:
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > your AOL account > Advanced > Deleted Mailbox
Select "Trash" (or Deleted Items or Deleted Messages) under "On the Server"
OR
Under "On My iPhone", select "Trash".
Then tap "Advanced", then press the Home button.

If neither of those options work, let us know, or see these pages for a few other suggestions: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8519565

Hope this helps!

When i click on mail only box that appears is trash dont know where new mailbox has gone?

Try deleting your account and then adding it again.
You can do this by click on Settings from your homescreen, and then selecting Mail, Contacts, Calendars. From there, select the account with the issue, and then press Delete Account. This should take you back to the Mail, Contacts, Calendars menu, where you can add the account again. Doing this will not delete any of the messages from your account.

Isn't there a way to delete all inbox mail on AOL? It seems silly that you have to delete one message at a time.

if you are using the AOL software/program, open your mailbox, select the very first e-mail from the list, then press and hold down the SHIFT key on the keyboard and click the very last e-mail. This highlights all e-mail in between. You can then press the DEL/DELETE key on your keyboard

if you are using the webmail (available on AOL.COM), you will see a box at the very top column of the mail folders, selecting it will select all e-mails, then press DELETE key or click the DELETE button

Iphone email - sender address invalid

You need to set the outgoing mail server to one you can send from your iphone, ie the one your network carrier lists as you cannot send email through an AOL server unless you are using an AOL connection
