Tip & How-To about Cell Phones

A Tip for your Blackberry 8220 !!

Today I ran into a Problem with my Blackberry 8220. I turned it on and it said to "INSERT SIM CARD". To my surprise I realized I never removed the sim card. At this point i realized because of this error , I was unable to make calls or sent texts or anything else...I was freaking out! After taking the battery and sim card out and restarting the phone several times, I still had no luck!"INSERT SIM CARD "was still there!!! I arrived at school turned on my laptop and searched google and found the great CRACKBERRY web site. After searching a bit I ralized this was a common issue with my phone. Someone suggested i try a piece of paper behind the sim card. This would allow the thin simcard to press against the spring inside for a better connection. First i tried a piece of copy paper I ripped and slid on carefully...Tried restarting and ther it was again"INSERT SIM CARD"..At this point I couldnt give up so i tried something thicker...a piece of cardboard from the back of my Managing and Maintaiining Microsoft Server 2003 Book. Its the card board that is at the back of the book where you find the supplemental CD/DVD. What made this even better was the fact that when i ripped a piece it had some adhesive on it so it stuck right on the sim card!! I tried it and ...it worked!!!!!!...So there you go...my Blackberry 8220 insert sim card TIP!!!!!

I am trying to use an unlocked Blackberry pearl 8220 on AT&T, it won't find a signal

If you are getting an error message saying, "Invalid SIM Card" or "Incorrect SIM Card", then you would need to unlock the phone first.
