Just purchased a new samsung blu ray player with hdmi. Previously had older sony with compnent video. I run all through my new onyko receiver with 4 hdmi inputs and one output. I connected in hdmi to receiver in and left cuurent hdmi cable to tv alone since it is a hdmi output to dvi older tv input for video. I also have my hdmi cable comcast going though receiver and out receiver via the same cable by just switching the receiver. I don't get any picture with new blu ray player to set dvd menu. The tv screen reads samsung blu ray and then goes to blank screen. All cables are ok and this connection works fine for my hdmi cable into receiver and out the same way. By the way, all is ok when I skip receiver and run dvd directly to tv via hdmi out of samsung to dvi in of tv. I am confused. I have also tried other ports of hdmi and other cables. That is not the problem. It seems as though the onyko new receiver won't transfer samsung hdmi. I have now just connected compnent video out directly to the tv and am using optic sound into the receiver. This baffles me.

If your TV is an older model and only has a couple HDMI ports, but you have several media sources, such as Blu-ray players or video game consoles, an HDMI switcher is exactly what you need. Connect all the media sources to the HDMI switch box via anHDMI cable and then connect the HDMI switcher to the TV.

Check your power cord and plug for damage, do a wiggle test with DVD plugged in and see if it comes on while moving and bending wire plug. press the helpful button
If this is an older surround sound receiver and you're trying to hook it up to a flat screen LCD LED TV the only option would be to use the yellow video out to the yellow video in on the back of your TV. Most new TVs have HDMI inputs so to hook up the receiver to that you would either have to use a converter which can be purchased through Mcm Electronics or you can run the sound through your receiver using the red and white or if it's surround sound the coaxial Jack what will be orange in color or the digital jack which would be a small square black hinged door on the back. And then you could run the HDMI directly to your TV from your DVD player or Blu ray player or cable box
The brand of the HDMI cable makes no difference as they are all essentially the same.
You will have no issues using a JAE branded cable on your Blu-Ray player.
Yes, you can connect the HDMI Cable from the Blu-ray Player to the TV directly and then, connect the Digital Optical cable from the Blu-ray Player to the Receiver.
Remove the HDMI cable (out) to the speakers from the receiver.
Connect regular speaker wire from the receiver to the speakers.
Of course, remove the (now extra) HDMI cable from the tv.
That will remove the loop.
