WATER IN WASHER WONT SHUT OFF

Hi and welcone to FixYa. I am Kelly. When water wont shut off no matter what you do the problem is inside of the water valve assy. Usually there is a small bit of debris in the diaphram center hole that is holding the water passage open.

Here is what you can try to do to clear if BEFORE replacing the eater Valve.

1. Get a bucket
2. Turn off both water supply hoses momentarily
3. Set the water temp to warm
4. Remove ONE hose from the wall connection and place the hose in a the bucket.
5. Turn on the remaning connected hose/
6. Start machine fill cycle and tap the hose connection at the water valve on the back of the machine with either a screw driver or hammer handle.

Timer OFF

REVERSE HOSE CONNECTIONS ON THE WALL CONNECTION.

7. Place the other hose in the bucket
8. Start Fill cycle.
9. Again tap the hose connection at the water valve
10. Stop timer.
11. Reconnect both hoses and test for water flow with timer off.
12. Start fill cycle
13. Rapidly select hot and cold wash water.
14. STOP fill cycle.
15. Remove each hose individually from the water valve one at a time.
16. Use a knive blade and remove the inlet screen from the water valve. Wash screen under slowly running water rubbing it clean with your fingers. Re install screen. Reconnect water hose.
17. Repeat step 16 for opposite hose and screen.
18. Turn on water supply.
19. Test for proper filling and water stopping by starting and stopping fill cycle.

If it works you got lucky. If you still have the problem you will need to change the water valve. Either one of these water valves will work on your machine:

Washer seems to cycle fine but the water will over fill

Hello, fill the washing machine with water and when the water is about 1/2 full of water, unplug the washers power cord from the wall outlet.if the water keeps flowing into the washing machine with the power cord pulled the "fill valve"(where the hot and cold hoses are attached to the washer) has mechanically stuck open and will have to be replaced. if the water shuts off when you remove it's power cord from the wall outlet, try plugging the washer in and out a couple more times and if the water stops each time the fill valve indicates as being good.

Thanks

Washer overflowed while filling for wash cycle.

A quick test to split up your possible trouble makers:
Let the washing machine fill with water and when the washer is about 1/2 full of water unplug the washers power cord from the wall outlet. If the water keeps flowing into the washing machine with the power cord pulled the fill valve ( where the hot and cold hoses are attached to your washer ) has mechanically stuck open and will have to be replaced. If the water shuts off when you remove it's power cord from the wall outlet, try plugging the washer in and out a couple more times and if the water stops each time the fill valve indicates as being good = on to the next trouble makers.
The water level control is responsible for shutting off the power to the fill valve and redirects the power to the timer to start the washing machine running once the correct water level has occurred. The WLC itself could be bad. The WLC uses a hose that the water level pushes air into to tell the WLC what the water level is inside the washing machine...the hose could be pinched, fallen off of the tub spout, has a pin hole, clogged up with calcium or soap curd and the WLC cannot "sense" or "tell" what is happening inside the washer.

Fisher and Paykel washing machine fills and won't stop filling...

If the water stops when you shut if off at the wall you have a bad cold inlet valve, or the valve is getting a constant "open" command from the controller and thus the controller is faulty.

Maytag washer will not stop filling when wash cycle is first selected. Doesn't matter if I choose small, medium, or large load.

How do you get it stop filling? If it stops filling by just shutting the timer off you may have a bad pressure/water level switch, if you have too shut the water off too the machine at the wall then you have a bad inlet water valve.

Washing machine it shuts down water filling cycle

First thing to check is the filter,
DISCONNECT power
open the bottom pane (3 screws on bottom front lip)
in the cent is a large removable filter ,
set a pan or rags under it ,there will be water.
clean out any debris an be sure the pump impellers move freely.
let me know if that fixes it.
