My Golden Companion II scooter had to be left out when it rained - I went camping - and it stopped running. Then, a little later, when it had thoroughly dried out, it ran sporadically. Now, it doesn't seem to quit working, but I get power losses, and it doesn't run as fast (in my opinion). What kind of damage was likely done, and can I repair it, or go to the shop? I don't have much money, but the mobility I get with the Scooter would be worth a lot.

Hi. Most speed problems on scooters, can be the throttle pot ( wig wag ), or the motor brushes.
Also check all battery lead connectors, and the motor lead connectors.
While you are driving along, try moving the speed lever slightly up and down, not in and out as you normally do. If the speed changes, it is probably a faulty pot.
Do you have a high/low switch, or an indoor/outdoor switch that changes the speed? These sometimes cause speed changes. You can fit a new switch or by-pass the switch, and have it on high all the time.
Good luck. Neil.

I have a Golden Companion II scooter that some times won't go into reverse at start up. Sometimes I hear the relay and it tries to back up but stops. At other times in reverse nothing happens.

It sounds like a relay issue, it may also be the carbon brushes on the motor because you are reversing the motor direction. Phone these people and ask. There is no relay listed, just a very expensive 'Dynamic Controller'.
