Hey djames1971 - did you ever get this resolved? My Philips is doing the same exact thing now; sooooo annoying. If I keep monkeying with the exit setting it eventually goes to the TV and stays there, but it doesn't fix it by any means. Next time I go to turn it on I have the same battle with it.

  • Anonymous Jun 28, 2010

Okay - I think I may have a solution. Do you have the latest and greatest software upgrade? I have had my TV for 4 years and have never upgraded the software. I just did it and in one of the upgrades there is the following (at least for my model):

    BX23U-1.1.0.0_01461

    Following problems are solved :

    • solution for sudden popup of menu or disfunctioning of keys on the television

    We'll see if it works!

Have you tried removing the batteries from the remote?

If it stops, you have a stuck remote button and need a new remote.

If it doesn't stop, you will need a TV repairman.

I hope this helps!

My phillips 42 in. goes directly to the menu screen.

It's a common software problem with the Philips TVs. You'll have to download the latest software upgrade to fix the problem. Go to Philips.com/support to find the software for your TV. You'll need a USB memory stick to do the procedure followed on the web site.

My remote will not work and the tv menu is on the screen and goes through all the diffrent setting options automatically without stopping. TV buttons will not control the menu. Unable to make any setting...

1# First unplug tv,unhook ant.let set overnight.2# Reconect ant.Plug back in.turn tv on with button on tv.let tv run trew all its modes for 5 to 6 hrs.Don`t push any buttons!!!!! It has to reset everything.then try remote, when it starts to work, set new pin code.use your instruction book,to set all blocks to N,,Clear all favorite channels + erase channels in tv 's memory if there in there yet, takes a lot of time.it will keep resetting, remote won't work.let it run awhile. then push exit, hold 5 to 10 seconds remote will eventually come back, check your settings reset them, be sure menu is set to STOP, it may start running threw all its modes again, let run couple hrs, then push exit 5 to 10 seconds to get your remote back.keep trying this. when you think the tv is working right, turn it off for 10 seconds then back on. If it starts resetting, let it run an hr,then push exit again to get your remote back,it has to reset everything, keep trying, took me 3DAYS to get it right!!!!!!!!! the only thing I don't have working is the pic size button,Don't need that anyway. GOOD LUCK.
