I would like to migrate my outlook express email and windows address book over to microsoft outlook... I know there will be no problem bring over all my email and email folders, however as you probably know outlook express uses windows address book to manage contacts, well there is one main folder, called 'main identity contacts' and underneath that main folder I have created new folders with different names and i have placed contacts in them accordingly... is there a way i can transfer these folders into outlook as well, because i don't want to have to manually recreate all these contact folders in outlook... thank you

For that you need to import it in 1 file.
Open outlook express then go to file menu then import ->address book.
Then save it to desktop then you can export in microsoft outlook with that file.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

I have Outlook Express for my e/mail, my sever is Broadband and they changed my e/mail over to Magic Mail, this leaves my address book back in Outlook Express. I know I have to make a file and export the...

In Outlook, you can use the Import and Export Wizard as the interface for Address Book conversion. To convert a WAB file, follow these steps: 1. Start Outlook if it is not currently running. 2. On the File menu, click Import and Export. 3. Select Import Internet Mail and Addresses, and then click Next. 4. Select Outlook Express 4.x, 5 from the list, and then click Next. 5. Select the product for which you wish to convert items from the list, and then click Next. 6. Select any combination of the Mail or Addresses from the items listed.

NOTE: With the exception of rules conversion from Outlook Express, the steps to convert addresses is the same. 7. Click Next. 8. Select a destination for the imported address data. The destination depends on the type of Outlook installation you selected initially. a. The Internet Mail Only installation of Outlook 98 allows only the Contacts folder as the destination. b. The Corporate or Workgroup option allows the options of Personal Address Book or Outlook Contacts. 9. Select the appropriate duplicate items option. Click Finish to complete the import.
Hope that helps..........

I can't open the Address Book of Outlook Express 6 and i can't sent email

First you have to make sure that the letters do have a basis, that is to view the contents of the file "Sent Items (1) .dbx" and "Sent Items (1) .bak". This lead to the many programs, such as, Recovery Toolbox for Outlook Express, http://www.outlookexpress.recoverytoolbox.com/ but it is possible and Total Commander plugins.
Next to act on the results.

I accidentally permanently deleted my Outlook Express application, can it be restored? My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit, 2009 version, Service Pack 1

Windows 7 does not support the use of Outlook Express - this was removed from Windows Vista and Windows 7 and replaced by Windows Mail (in Vista) and by Windows Live Mail (in 7).
If you have copies of the Outlook Express mail database files (inbox.dbx etc) you should be able to migrate these into Windows Live Mail using the Import Messages option in the File menu and selecting Microsoft Outlook Express 6 then browsing to the folder where your mail database files for Outlook Express are held.
If you have previously exported your Outlook Express account details (name.iaf) - you can import these into Windows Live Mail too through the Import option in the Accounts page.
Lastly, if you still have your Outlook Express Address book (name.wab) this can be imported in to your Windows Live Contacts by selecting File then Import Windows Address book (.wab).

How to set new e-mail address for my outlook express default

Setting up new email accounts in Outlook Express - 10 Steps Without further ado, let us look at the steps which we need to follow for setting up an email account in Outlook Express.
Note: When you open Outlook Express for the first time, you might be asked if you want to set it as a default email client on your system. Make sure you answer in the affirmative.
  1. Start Outlook Express. Click on Tools in the menu bar and then go to Accounts
    outlook_express_new_account_setup1.gif
  2. This brings up the Internet Accounts pop-up window. Click on the Mail tab, to bring it to the front if it is not already so. If you are starting Outlook Express for the first time, there would not be any email accounts listed on this window.
    outlook_express_new_account_setup2.gif
  3. To add a new mail account, click on the Add button and then on Mail as shown in the image below.
    outlook_express_new_account_setup3.gif
  4. This brings up the Internet Connection Wizard pop-up window. Enter your name in the Display Name field and click on the Next button.
    outlook_express_new_account_setup4.gif
  5. The wizard now asks for your email address. Enter the full email address and click on the Next button.
    outlook_express_new_account_setup5.gif
  6. In the next window, you need to feed in three important bits of information - the incoming and outgoing email servers and the type of the incoming email server.
It is likely that the incoming email server is POP3. The incoming and outgoing email servers can be yourdomain.com, mail.yourdomain.com or any other value depending on how the email server has been configured.
If you are a beginner, you might not know what the incoming and outgoing servers mean. It is not important at this stage to know the meaning; you simply need to know their values. Call up your I.S.P. and ask them to provide the information.
I know that the email accounts at my domain www.BiotechDesk.com are all POP3. Additionally, the incoming and outgoing email servers are the same - biotechdesk.com.
    outlook_express_new_account_setup6.gif
  7. The last information that you need to enter to complete the setup of the new account is the username and password for that email account. These login details would have been given to you by your ISP or you would have set these online using a control panel.
After completing the fields for Account Name and Password, click on the Next button.
    outlook_express_new_account_setup7.gif
  8. In the following window, click on the Finish button to complete the process of setting up a new email account in Outlook Express.
    outlook_express_new_account_setup8.gif
  9. You will now see the new email account has been added to the Accounts list. The account is referred by its server name.
    outlook_express_new_account_setup9.gif
  10. To compose a new email click on the Create Mail button or click on Messages - New Message. This opens a blank email for you. Enter the senders email address, subject and the matter.
When you have composed your email, click on the File - Send Message. The email will be sent and a copy stored in the Sent Items folder.
You can create several email accounts in Outlook Express. So if you have 6 email accounts on your web site, you can set up all these.
As I mentioned in point #9 (above), Outlook Express will refer to an email account by its server name. So if you have several email accounts on your domain, they would be referred to as yourdomain.com(1), yourdomain.com(2) etc. (or something similar). To make this more user friendly, Outlook Express gives you the option of changing these values.
Open the Internet Accounts pop-up once again by clicking on Tools and then Accounts. Make sure the Mail tab is in the front. Double-click on the account name. This brings up the Properties window of that account. Enter any descriptive name in the first field, as shown in the image below.

Transfering mail setup from Windows xp to a windos vista machine with EasySuite

I'm not 100% sure about vista because I hate it but I can help you copy all of your outlook express data to a CD\DVD disk & your address book. Your network settings for express account is a phone call to your ISP.
If vista's explorer is set up like XP you should be able to copy your data into outlook express.
Open all these folders on you XP system.
User name\Application Data\Identities\{xxxxxxx}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
Copy the Outlook Express folder to your CD.
User name\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book. Copy Address Book folder.
Making sure you have everything.
Open, User name\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{xxxxxxx}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
Compair the two Outlook Express folder files. CD will not allow copy of same named folder.
If Vista's lay out is the same as XP than copy Outlook Express folder to Vista.
Suggest you have your current ISP setting /account setup before copying to Vista

Let me know if this works for you!
Good Luck & Kind Regards.

Can i use Outlook Express

I've checked the knowledge library and i have seen this article regarding your query. You are limited to Mail synchronization for Outlook Express. A third-party conduit is required to synchronize your Outlook Express Address book also. A conduit is supplied free with the Mac version of Outlook Express. We are not aware of any available conduit for the Windows Address Book of Outlook Express Think of it in terms of databases: Microsoft Outlook contains email, calendar, contact, to do and notes databases that are analogous to the similar databases on your handheld. Microsoft Outlook Express contains only email and contact databases.
