I own a Samsung 32" LCD HDTV (Model LN-S3241D). My volume display stays on the screen. I don't run my audio through the TV. Instead, I run it through my amplifier, so I have no problem with my actual audio. The display says "0", and I can't get it to go away. When I raise the volume on the TV with the manual buttons on the side, it just drops back down to "0" when I take my finger off the button...as though the TV is getting a constant signal to lower the volume. When I tried to bring up the menu, it flickered and then went back to the volume display. Again, it seems the TV is getting a constant signal to lower the volume which keeps the display on the screen. I checked and the manual button does not appear to be stuck. Also, I removed the batteries from the remote to make sure it wasn't sending the signal.
It worked for me & I think it may work for you too.
Increase the volume from 0 by pressing the manual control
to a desired level. Then immediately press the button for 'Menu'.
Keep pressing the menu button for about 30 seconds. During
this time, menu would appear on the screen for a few seconds &
vanish. It will reappear & go. Once the display disappears for a few seconds, the TV screen will become blank & again the menu appears.
After 30 seconds (or more), release the menu button. Now the
volume level stays back & volume display on the screen also
would vanish.
If this works let me know.
With best wishes,
V. Elangovan
It seems that the button for your (-) button volume is stuck or damaged, try to check the button if it goes back to original position when you press on it, turn it off and while its off press the volume up button and turn it back on. when you turn off the remote do you still see the volume display? try to check the buttons on the remote as well.
This is going to sound a little strange, put some tape over the remote sensor on the tv. On mine its on the bottom right hand side.
The Ir port on my laptop was trying to communicate with the tv and kept changing channels. If you put tape over it will eliminate any external inputs like laptops or fones etc.
Email me back to see if it stops or not:

Hi,
The Tv needs to be serviced by a technician.Probably there is a problem with the circuits inside.
Few troubleshooting steps you can try:
1)Do a hard reset by unpluging all the cords for 4hrs and then plug it back.
2)The whacking test is to just bang or smack the set with your hand on
the back, side, top, etc., to see if there are loose connections or
cold solder joints inside that are acting up. If so, the banging should
knock them back to normal and the set should restore. You might have to
use some creative banging and some have had to put a book or magazine
under one corner to torque the chassis enough to get it to work
reliably.
Goodluck,
Please don't forget to rate the solution.

I think coolguy008 was most helpful. I knew it wasn't related to the remote, because I had already tried covering up the remote sensor to test that theory. And I could tell the volume button was not stuck. I ended up doing the following: 1) Took it off the base and knocked it gently to see about possible loose connections. 2) Removed the backcover and used pressurized gas to clean dust of the inner workings. 3) Left it unplugged overnight to get the "hard reset." I can't say which intervention worked, but the volume display is no longer stuck on the screen.
