You most likely have a defective Key panel if not all the buttons work.

Dishwaher has power, but will not turn on. Help?

Hello Miss Mellis;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

You did not provide a model number so I can only be general. Your model number is on a tag on the front face of the dish washer when you open the door.

It sounds like you have a bad door latch switch or a bad thermal fuse which is located next to your control board. Both of these components are relatively inexpensive.

I have a loose door handle .what tools do I need and how do I repair it?

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

This is a difficult question to answer because you did not provide a model number. When you open the dish washer door you will see a metal label. Your model number is on this label.

Generally, manufactures use a special screw called a torque screw. The head of the screw looks like a star. It may be a different head screw.

Dish washer door handles are made of plastic. It is not uncommon for the handle housing, the handle or the retention spring to break.

On some dish washers you have to remove the inside door panel to access the handle assembly and on others there is a cover plate for the dishwasher control panel at the top of the inside of the door.

Before you attempt this task - do not go blind. Give me your model number.

Washer does not respond to control

Hello Walt;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

Maytag makes a good unit. Please give me more information. Is it a clothes washer or a dish washer?

Please provide the model number so I can see what you have.
These numbers are on the machines, usually after you open the door you will see a name plate.

1.) Do you have power? Does the control panel light up?

2.) There are several reasons your unit may not respond to the control.
a.) A faulty door lock switch will lock out your control.
b.) Both clothes and dish washers have thermal fuses. These too will lock out your control.

Once again send me your model number and more detail & I will help you.

My Maytag Neptune TL ( purchased in 2005) is grinding during the wash cycle only. Spin cycle is quiet. Once the entire wash/rinse spin completed I opened the washer to retrieve the load and found a piece...

Jose,

I'm an owner of three FAV6800A machines and I'll respond to help because you want to roll up your sleeves and try to save your $1K machine.

1st No direct links Google this Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW

In the Sticky: Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW 5 post down you will find a link to the Service Manual. You absolutely need the Service Manual to DIY issues with the machine. It's not the best SM but will get you started. I also have repair post in that sticky to help with the most common issues that I have helped owners with.

Post in that forum your machine Model which I assume is an FAV6800A (LED Console) or FAV9800A (LCD Console)

Include the first two digits of you machines model number. That is the series of your machine.

Give a description of the issue as you did here. I hope the grinding is during wash/agitate if so it may be something as simple as tumbler removal to clear out debris. If the grinding is in Spin Cycle it could be a bit more work like Outer Tub bearing failure.

The Forum in my opinion is geared more toward the DIY owner as I am and as you sound. The forum is free like this and my support is free..........Good Luck D*ick

I have a Maytag Neptune FAV6800AWQ Serial Number

Fireman,

Excellent info wish all post would start off like this. The first two digits of the s/n are your series number a Series 16 machine I’m an owner no expert and will try to help.

I assume you have the Service Manual but just in case.

FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

“”I can grab the drive belt and effortlessly move it back and forth-pulley spins and motor spins--Should it move like this?””

There should be slight resistance.

With the front cover off and be careful of the rotating drive belt can you start a Spin Only cycle?

Do you see the Motor rotate the Clutch Pulley assembly CCW? If so the wash basket should spin CCW just raise the washer top and verify the CCW/Spin rotation.

If that works again with the front cover off start a Quick Wash cycle min Soil/Spin settings and observe as the washer. As it fills the wash basket will be rotating CCW don’t raise the washer top to high or you will spray water around.

After the water fill the washer will start to Wash/Agitate. The Motor will rotate the Clutch Pulley CW and the Tumblers will rotate. Do you see this action.

You can go into Service Mode with this procedure and dump the wash water if the cycle fails with this procedure.

I would go to page 16 of the SM lower right hand part of page, Board Output Test and turn on the drain pump in service mode to pump out the tub.

Enter Service Mode by simultaneously pressing and holding the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or the display reads “00”

Pressing the Delicates key will lock the lid. Now press the Presoak key the drain pump will turn on. Stop with off button or hit the Presoak key.

Thank you again for the Model number and Serial number…. other readers this is how you post an issue.

Waiting for your feedback………Rich

Our Maytag Neptune TL FAV6800AW doesn't work. you cannot change cycle settings, it turns itself on and off while washing, the water doesnt drain and it constantly BEEPS! HELP!

Hello sjohnson737,

From what you describe I feel you have a Control Board failure. If you haven’t tried this try removing the 120VAC power plug to the washer then repower back up. If that doesn’t clear the issue and you decide not to do further troubleshooting it would be time to call in a service repair company. I would call Maytag for an authorized Maytag repair service in your area. Some parts like the Control Board may still be under warranty (5yr). Warranty info is in the SM link I’ve attached. The number to call is 800-688-9900. Maytag will need your model number and serial number, that info is located on the back right top side of the console.

Good luck and post back if you have questions. If you can get into Service Mode you might be able to turn on the drain pump in and pump out the tub. Let me know if you have other questions.

How do I get my Maytag Neptune TL washer to stop beeping and start washing again ?

Try disconnecting the 120VAC power cord for a few minutes then re-power back up if you haven?t already tried that. If you still have the same issue then you may have a failed Control Board. If it?s the FAV6800AW is there an error code in the LED display? If the machine will not d let you into Service Mode then my next step would be to replace the Control Board a 10 minute job. LIGHTS COME ON BUT WILL NOT RUN

Are there any error codes to the LED display when you press the Start button of your FAV6800AW is that your model? Error codes types such as OD, OP, FL,LR etc.

Have you tried to power cycle the machine by pulling the 120VAC power cord then re-power back up. If there are no error codes the next step would be to enter service mode and read the machines diagnostic error code list to get a start point for troubleshooting.

I’ll assume the machine type is a FAV6800AW or FAV9800AW and post some handy links. If you want to DIY I will try to help.
