F61 is either a speaker unhooked or a "sticky" fan. Turn off at mains.........Make sure all speaker connections are sound and blow compressed air (available in a can) into the fan. (Do not try and lubricate the fan spindal as this will make it worse). This should fix it. Turn back on at mains and all should be OK.

I have a technics SA-EH760 i have touched the wire speakers and now have an error code of F61 i have taken the top off but cant see anything obvious

F61 - error code. This will trigger if the unit has gone into overload to avoid further damaged to other parts. The common causes of this error code. 1. Output IC - this is the most common caused of the error code. Once shorts happened to this IC, it will trigger the error code. Exposure to high volume and/or running in the long time will caused this IC to shorts and produce an overload.
2. Shorted Speaker - if one of your speakers shorts, error code will appear also. This may isolate by disconnecting the speaker to the set and play the unit *****. If the symptom still there the fault came from the unit itself.
3. Shorted Inputs - inputs connector is also prone to shorts due to frequent bending and pulling. To isolate this from fault, disconnect all the inputs connected to the unit like the aux input, antenna, mic, etc.
4. Faulty power supply - once gone to out-of-regulation condition, the error code will appear to protect the most expensive parts from further damaged.Bad solder joints in this section is also to consider.
5. Faulty Fan and its circuitry - F61 will appear only after a minute of operation not upon powering on the unit. Check the fan if working or not...
Also, check whether your unit is still within the warranty period, because the manufacturer will fix it for free.

Hi. I have a panasonic SA-PT860 dvd theatre system. Everytime you turn the on/off button it states that I have an F61 fault. I have looked in the manual and it says to check speaker connections. I have...

- Is your system playing in spite of this error?

Assuming that this is the model complete with "receiver" and speakers+sub and you use these and the original connections. You could try and measure your ohm level on each speaker to control if there is a bad/blown speaker. The Ohm level should be the same on each speaker - roughly.
- Hope this will get you somewhere!

At power on, displays F61 code and switches off

F61 is an error code.
It will automatically shuts down your unit.
This is very common on your unit.

Try to checked if the fan is working or not.
I have repaired some unit before, this is the caused why f61 appeared.
The symptom is shutting down the unit after a few minute.
If the fan is not working it will shuts off automatically to avoid further damaged to your output I.C. from overheating.

If confirmed that the fan is working then I've suspect that your output I.C./pre-amplifier circuit is faulty.
This is quit technical and need to send to repair shop to isolate the faulty parts.
The output IC of your unit is RSN series and quite expensive.

Pls rate my help.

When turning on the Panasonic DVD player the unit stays on for 3 seconds and reads "Hello", then reads F61 and turns off. What causes this and how can it be resolved?

The abnormalities an output or power supply circuit of POWER AMP.
In normal operation, when DCDET2 goes to "L" (Low) (Not during POWER OFF condition), F61 appears on FL Display and PCONT goes to "L" (Low).
This is due to speaker output has DC voltage or fan is not working.

Panasonic stereo SA-PM28 displays fault code F61 then switches off

Hi dearnley1

The error code your unit is presenting relates to either a speaker cabling fault or a fault speaker. Sometimes, it is neither, and may be a fault inside the unit. Needless to say the unit is in protection moe to prevent more damage occurring. Check you speaker wiring for any short circuits or frayed wires. If all appears to be ok, disconnect the wires from the unit and see if it turns on and stays on then. If it still presents f61 with speakers and cable disconnected, then I am afraid that you may need to take the unit to a Kenwood service center near to you for an inspection . Good luck

Error F61

I have just struck this problem on a friends unit and here is what I did

Disconnect DVD player and all accessories and connections
Problem still occurs
Open machine ( remove three screws from back and slide top cover off. inspection of the inside top cover shows a black patch just above the fan unit
manually spin fan
power up unit and f61 no longer shows up
I think this miaght be a problem with the fan not spinning up at start and the machine then shuting down
I will fit a new fan and see what happens
