I have a NordicTrack EXP1000. The walking belt was so far to the left that the edge began to fray. So, I adjusted the belt towards the right and now it slips forward now and then when it gets up to 3mph or more. Any suggestions?

If the walking belt slips when walked on, first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. Using the hex key, turn both idler roller bolts clockwise, 1/4 of a turn. When the walking belt is correctly tightened, you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in. (5 to 7 cm) off the walking platform. Be careful to keep the walking belt centered. Then, plug in the power cord, insert the key, and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened.
If their is still slippage then the drive belt will need to be adjusted.
Find the motor mounts. Many motors in Icon treadmills have a main pivot joint in which a bolt runs the full length of the motor mount. This bolt will require loosening to provide maximum adjustability. Find the set bolt(s) on the motor.
This is typically run through only one side of the motor mount or may be on both sides but it does not run the full length of the mounting. Loosen this bolt but do not remove.

The drive belt must be tensioned by hand. While one person applied increased tension to the drive belt, the other person should tighten the motor set bolt(s) that are described above. Tighten the bolt and test. If the problem is not corrected, if problem persist replace drive belt

Walking Belt Fraying

The bow flex tc5 is an overpriced piece of equipment. The build quality is not great. There are ongoing documented problems with the belts fraying on this model. You can always order a new belt or adjust the side (loosening or tightening) your primary foot stepping side, but I would call bow flex and demand a new belt or replacement. You can mention there is a "risk of fall" due to poor workmanship. This will get their attention and you may even get a new treadmill or at least free belt. Call Bow flex customer service at 1-800-436-6549.

Belt keeps sliding from side to side

You have not properly aligned and / or adjusted the tension. If it is SLIDING then you do not have enough Rear Tension. Once you get the right amount of REAR TENSION, then you have to adjust the left right (balance the belt). Your belt should go straight, right now you have it too far to the FRAYED SIDE. Turn the Machine on, have your Hex Wrench in the Bolt and turn it slowly CW and as the belt come back to Center, watch the adjustment. If it continues to go past, then loosen it a little until you have the right balance. Remember REAR TENSION FIRST... THEN BALANCE for Alignment

While using my Nordictrack a2550 this morning, the walking belt began to slip very badly. I checked the alignment and adjusted the tension of the belt as per the user's manual but the belt stills slip...

if it really is the walking belt that is slipping keep tightening the adjustment screws till the belt will not slip when you try to stop it ( set speed to about 3 and then with your foot try to stop belt from spinning - you should be able to make the motor and whole machine come to a stop ) make sure it is really walk belt spinning and it isnt the motor belt slipping. (if it is motor belt slipping when you try to do the stop the belt trick i just described you will see the walk belt and front roller stop but still hear the motor turning) once you get walk belt tight enough so it doesnt slip then you can worry about keeping the belt centered.

let me know if you need more help on this and let me know how the stop the belt test went

good luck!

How do I change the walking belt on a Nordic Track EXP 2000?

Hi,

First, remove the motor hood. There are 3 screws at the front, and 2 underneath. The screws underneath will have to be removed by tipping the treadmill over, or pulling the console towards the rear of the machine.

Next, remove the side rails. This is a little tricky because of the cushion adjusters on each side of the deck. If you look underneath the deck, you will see that the adjusters are on rails that are attached to the platform. Remove all of the screws from the side rail and push it toward the rear of the machine while also moving the adjusters rearward. You'll have to kind of move them together until the adjuster slides off the rail. Do both sides.

Remove the rear roller, by loosening the bolts. Don't mess with the front roller unless you intend to replace the motor belt. You don't need to remove the front roller or the walking belt.

There are 4 bolts holding the deck to the frame. The rear ones go through the frame to a lock nut. The front bolts screw into the isolators. Remove them and the deck will come loose. You can slide it out from the walking belt.

Place the new deck next to the old, and start moving the parts over. Make sure the safety decal is on the bottom like the old deck. All of the holes are pre-drilled except for the belt guides. You'll have to measure for these. Now do everything in reverse to reassemble the machine. I'm also attaching instructions on how to adjust the belt.

First, ensure that it is the walking belt that is loose. There is a belt hidden under the hood that connects the front roller to the motor (motor/drive belt). Start the treadmill at 3 or so and carefully apply pressure to the walking belt until it slips/stops. Watch the front roller. If it continues to spin when the walking belt stops, it's the walking belt. It the front roller stops with the walking belt, the motor belt is loose and needs adjusted or replaced.

To adjust the walking belt, locate 2 hex head bolts, one on either side of the deck on the very back of the machine. These bolts will be recessed inside the plastic covers. Your treadmill came with a tool for this, but if you can't find it, a standard (not metric) allen wrench kit will work. It's helpful to have a wrench in each bolt so that you can adjust them at the same time, but one will work.

The allen bolts thread directly through each side of the rear roller. As you tighten the bolts, it pulls the rear roller away from the front roller, tightening the walking belt. This also centers it; if you tighten one bolt, it pushes the belt towards the center of the walking deck away from the bolt you're tightening. So if the belt is too far to the right, tighten the right bolt and it will move towards the center.

Place your wrenches in the roller bolts and turn the machine on to 3-4 miles an hour. Keep your fingers clear of the belt, it will eat them. This method is quick, because you can see the belt move as you tighten one side or the other. It takes a few seconds, but if you tighten the right bolt for instance, you will see the belt move to the left. If the belt is loose but centered, tighten each bolt ½ turn and then get on the machine and see if it slips. The user manual will tell you to pull it up a couple of inches to test the tightness, which is a relative method and doesn't necessarily work. My wife can pull on the belt and get 2 inches, and I can probably get 3 or even 4 if I'm showing off. The best way to test it is to gradually tighten it until you can run on it without it slipping.

You should lube the belt a couple of times a year. You can get them from iconfitness.com

The above instructions is a generic one for this series. A slight adjustment might be required.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Walking belt on NordicTrack C1900 is to loose, how do I tighten it? When walking on it when u get to level 4 it just about throws u

Tighten the rear roller bolts evenly with the unit off. The correct tension is when you firmly lift up on the right and left edges in the middle of the walking belt and get 2-3 inches gap above the walking board. If one side is looser than the other, the walking belt may wander sideways. Turn the rear roller screw on the side that it shifted to in a clockwise manner(1/2 turn at a time). Test on a low speed and adjust as needed. (you may manually recenter the walking belt with your foot if it shifted too far to one side and is rubbing on the plastic edges.) You likely have a worn motor belt that needs changing or even a pulley on the front roller that is slipping and needs replacing. They all cause slippage.

How do you adjust or tighten the belt on the Nordic Track A2750 The belt is riding to one side of the platform

If the walking belt is off-center, remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. If the walking belt has shifted to the left, use the hex key to turn the left idler roller bolt clockwise 1/2 of a turn; if the walking belt has shifted to the right, turn the left idler roller bolt counterclockwise 1/2 of a turn. Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt. Plug in the power cord, insert the key, and run the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat until the walking belt is centered

Everything seems to work fine except a small slip in the track about every 30 seconds or so. Is there something that needs to be tightened?

The walking belt may be too loose. If you have made recent adjustments, lubricated, or had repairs, a belt can slip if not tightened. The belt can slip if you have too much friction or if the belt has been recently lubricated. If lube does not help your problem and you have exhausted all other possibilities, the walking belt is most likely worn out and must be replaced.
To adjust the belt: Less Belt Tension: turn both adjustment bolts on back of treadmill in a counter-clockwise direction. More Belt Tension: Turn both adjustment bolts equally in a clockwise direction. Center Adjustment (moves belt center to the left): Turn left-side adjustment bolt counter-clockwise. Center Adjustment (moves belt center to the right): Turn the left-side adjustment bolt clockwise.
An over tightened walking belt can raise the amp draw of your treadmill, contribute to seam separation on the walking belt, or both, so do not over tighten the walking belt.
You should be able to lift the belt in the center on the side by approximately 2” to 3”, if you cannot lift it by 2” to 3”, the belt is too tight.

I've had my treadmill for a good while now(about 6 years) and have used it A LOT. However, now it just stops on me after about 35 minutes or so. The controls continue to run, but not the belt. Have I just...

If the treadmill slows down or cuts off when warm it is probably a worn or dry walk belt.Lift the edge of the walk belt and feel the underside of it about 1 inch from the edge, now compare that to the underside of it in towards the middle where your feet are stepping on it,if that area feels alot more frayed or fuzzy the walk belt is worn. Now rub your hand on the platform surface where the walk belt rides, you should feel a wax film on the platform,if not you can purchase treadmill wax from the manufacturer, retailer or on-line.Apply the wax under the belt in towards the center 2/3 of the belt area, that should be done whenever you don't feel that wax film when you check it.
