I get thru to Dell and they would only say it is a POST problem. I replaced and cheched everything on my mini replacing parts with new which only leaves the motherboard in my case.
This is on a mini 10 with 2 beeps and nothing else.

Joey are you hyjacking 8 year old posts.?
    its ok,
lets to 4 beeps, on your mini 10 (memory failure)
    and no dash suffix stated.
we read the manual at Dell.
    its not hard.
    9 year old PCs day.

JUST COUNT THE BEEPS?, 1 POTATO 2 PoTAT....

    they are all here.
(Drum roll) Dell.com , we are not dell.
    1010 or 1012?
    9 years old it is,
ill guess you meant mini 10 -1010
and here is your support page.
    BELOW:

Dell Inspiron Mini 10 just 2 clicks at dell

dell is this documented NOT in the users guide of mini 10
    but is here
    https://www.dell.com/support/article/us/...

what I did at dell ,is to type in there search page
    "beep codes"
just that, and BINGO< 1 second later, the I was.

    8 beeps is LCD failure.
but you can read no need to guess, at dell.
dell documents this very well , unlike many other makers of PC.

    ,if memory fails,.
test the PC on AC power only first.
no big battery, ok? (its old and bad)
then test the memory sticks 1 at a time.

DISPLAY IS COMMING BUT GIVING 8 BEEPS ANB DOSE NOT BOOTING OR EVEN NOT ENTRING IN BIOS SETUP

  • Anonymous Dec 24, 2018

8 beeps means, your screen is dead, and the CCFL will die
9 year old PC ,almost 10 now.

    first :?
1: remove the huge battery first, run ok now?>
2: see if the RTC CMOS NVRAM coin cell is bad,
they are spec.'d at 7 years life, replace it or if below 2.9vdc its bad.
3: CCFL lamps go bad at 5+ years old. dead/dim screen or black bars.
4: CCFL inverter bad. (random) dead screen.or dim.
5: LCD cables fell off in side.
    or worse.

1) upon post check to see if you can enter the bios striking the f2 key. 2) if bios entry is possible simply exit using the "esc" key. 3) once the bios exit is complete dell mini might load into windows. 4) once in windows get a bios update from dell.com for your unit with the service tag key. 5) after bios update reboot unit. 6) in my case the I also had to reseat the cable attached to the keyboard and mobo. Look online for instructions. 7) power it up and hopefully fixed.

if the memory is bad, so too will be BIOS dead
so the BEEPS are first. learn that.
    code 4 is bad RAM.

I was able to fix my Mini by simply re-seating the Memory Module. Now to get to the Memory is another thing. I had to remove everything to include the motherboard. The Memory module sits on the back side of the motherboard and can oly be accessed by removing the motherboard from the case. I would also look at upgrading the Memory to 2GB while you have it out.

that is correct, it has no ram hatches
tiny or thin notepads have no hatches, so are a pain to fix, unless you practice this skill.

It start beeping until XP window come up,

It could be a bad memory module. Try removing and reinstalling them. Try one module at a time to see if beeping stops . Check all other connections to make sure they are properly connected. Hope this helps.

Loud beep

Multiple beeps while starting up is most of the time a message for a defect in the hardware. Try taking out some parts, put 1 by 1 back in and after placing 1 part, try to start up first. Thats an easy way to find the part thats defect. Most of the time its a dying ram. If you want to test the ram first, you can use the program Memtest 86+
