I have a hotpoint HDA2000G00WW built in dishwasher. The dishwasher does not run unless you press the plastic door under the latch area. I have adjusted the latch and that does not resolve the problem. I notice that the top three screws that hold the plastic eschucion are no longer holding as the plastic screw areas have broken on the eschucion. Do I need to replace the eschucion or can it be tightened some other way?

Check your air gap on your kitchen sink. If equipped, you will most likely find it clogged. Pull off the metal cap, then unscrew the white or clear cap. You should find your clog there. Replace both caps and remember to pre-rinse the dishes better before loading.

SOURCE: dishwasher issues

it can be the 10A fuse located in the back of the machine. but.... storage is kind of a problem with determining what is wrong with it.
Mouse can have chewed the wires, moisture can have rusted or corroded some components.
Check the internal fuse first and please check all wiring fo damage.

SOURCE: I have a hotpoint dishwasher, was installed in my house new when it was built in 2004

This is a bad control board that if replaced will only repeat in a short time .My advice is to contact the manufacturer and complain, you have the right as a consumer to do so.

I bought a house that has this dishwasher. I do not know how old it is. It does a great job of cleaning dishes but three problems: 1. how do you know when it is finished? it has no lights, only a plain...

There is an indicator light on the top left side of the door, it's on when running and flashes for about an hour when done. There should be a reflector attached to the bottom of the countertop, with double sided tape, above the light, allowing you to see the light when the door is closed. It looks like a piece of clear plastic about 2x2 inches. To turn the dishwasher off, when not in use, you need to press the off button, and press the on button when you want to use it, that's normal for your dishwasher. The door latch might need a little adjustment. On the top edge of the dishwasher, in the center there is a small metal latch sticking out. You can loosen the screws and move the latch out, just a little, tighten it up again and see if that makes it easer to latch the door. Don't move it out too much or it could start leaking from the door seals. Also make sure the door is not rubbing on the cabinetry or countertop. The bottom basket should just have tines for 2 rows of plates, you should be able to fold one side down. Silverware goes in the cutlery tray at the very top of the dishwasher.

Bosch dishwasher model shy56a05uc/14 door wont latch

I tried the various solutions on this site with no success. Finally I wedged it shut with a nice clear plastic door stop. Worked perfect (who cares if people think it looks funny, I am not hand washing and still am not out any extra dollars)

Door won't stay latched on dishwasher

Make sure nothing is binding the racks which could be pressing against the door when closed. Also make sure the dishwasher isn't installed too tightly in its place, which puts pressure on the latch. You may need to lower the leveling legs a bit.

Door will not stay closed unless latched. spring

Adlust the level on the fridge so that the hinged side is slightly higheer than latch side. They reley on gravity to stay closed.

My BF162 runs with the door open. I also cannot

Yup, could be that pesky door latch, or even the control panel board. This could be a case for a repair man or replacement, depending on the cost.

Maytag quiet series 200 won't start

Does it help to push it more tightly shut...or fiddle with the latch.
Mine is not running consistently unless we push the door shut tightly. Others here also report problem with the safety latch causing this washer to quit. May have to replace the part.

Won'r run unless I push the door

Probably a broken latch assembly.. UNPLUG UNIT!! Remove inner door panel to access. Also check for broken tabs on onside of console where latch assembly rests.
