Question about Samsung LE40R73BD 40 in. HD-Ready LCD Television

1 Answer

Our TV does not turn on right away. It sounds like it is clicking on and off several times before it clicks on and stays on. It does not matter if we turn it on with the remote or at the set. The light ( blue eye) slowly gets brighter with each click. It will do it five, six, seven or more times before the sound of the TV is heard and the set comes on. The TV is workling great except for the initial turn on. The seems to occur only when the set is "cold". If it has been used in the last half hour, it will turn on right away with just the remote. We are worried that the on/off mechanism will wear out if this continues much longer. Please help.....

SOURCE: clicks on and off several times before staying on

The power supply will sense if the set is 'drawing' too much current and switch itself off. This could be the case here. The power supply board may eventually go completely bad.

the relay is the safety protective device..sometimes a defective component or something. maybe an overloaded power supply might caused this problem..so before any thing could gets worst..the relay will shut the unit..

TV turns off by itself

Thus the line connected to a surge protector or some kind of line protector. This can be consider.

Or if this is a crt type tv. This could be a fault on high voltage section. Horizontal output transistor or flyback. But check also for loose connection/solder crack. That clicking sound may be the relay in action.

hope i give some correct input.

This Sounds like you need to have the flyback replaced on the main board!

Clicking noise

The clicking noise is a protection circuit that prevents the TV from switching on when a fault is detected.

That means that there is a short, a bad solder joint, or a bad component inside the TV, usually any good technician is able to find out at least the nature of the fault. Often this jobs must be done at a repair shop, as testing may take time, probably your technician was just in a hurry.

All you can try at home is leaving tv unplugged for a couple of hours, this drains power from the set , and fix some problem.
If it does not work send it to a repair shop.

Sony Wega kv27FV310 standby flashes 2 times with no picture or sound

3 years ago, i had the same problem with a samsung 36", when i switched it on it would stay on for around half an hour, i tried to switch on straight away, but it wouldnt, i had to leave it for an hour or so, then it would stay on for about 5 minutes. And the same thing the next day (half an hour then 5 minutes). I left it into the repair shop, it had to get a circuit board replaced at a cost of £315, dont know how much it will cost to get fixed now, as i could buy the same tv for a little over that now.

TV solution

You may have a bad solder joint on the horizontal driver transformer or somewhere else in the set. I found this problem with this transformer several times. Stargazer
