The gy-hm100 can record to sdhc media up to 32gb in each slot (total 64gb). For best performance you must use class 10 sd cards. Your camera may need updated firmware that enables class 10 support so check the JVC Pro website and follow the firmware instructions if you haven't done so already. Also, make sure your card is formatted and unlocked with plenty free space. 4 gb is not much at all and a card that size may not be of sufficient speed to operate correctly in the gy-hm100.
SOURCE: what size SD card does my video camera (JVC GR-D395u) support?
Your camera does support SDHC and all it's capacities.

Share: How to import .tod files from JVC Everio HDD Camcorder to iMovie?
Requirements: iMovie (Part of the iLife 08 package)
Step 1: Connect the Everio to the Mac (Via USB)
Make sure you are powering the Everio from the mains before connecting your JVC Everio Camcorder.
Step 2: Playback on PC
Select “Playback on PC” on the Everio, once connected you will see the Everio HDD symbol appear on the desktop. The video files on the Everio are stored in the SD Folder/PRG***/MOV***.MOD.
Step 3: Open iMovie
Once you open iMovie, you will see that it recognizes the Everio straight away and will attempt to import your video.
You are now ready to use iMovie to edit your video files.
If need change .tod files to common video formats like mov, mp4, m4v, mpg, mpeg, dv, flv, avi, wmv, 3gp, mkv, mp3, aac, wma, m4a, etc. Mod Tod Video Converter for Mac is a good choice. The program can also convert mod tod to ipod, mod tod to iphone, tod to apple tv, tod to blackberry and more devices!
SOURCE: I put a new 4gb sandisk hc memory card into my jvc
Hardware of this camcorder supports up to 2GB memory card so 4GB is more than its capacity and causing error.
Try 1GB or 2GB memory card in camcorder.
Thanks.
SOURCE: Jvc GY-HM100u will not focus. I removed the lens
The most likely cause for this is a zoom or focus lens out of place or impaired in some way. This will require disassembling camera to remove the lens block and then disassembling the lens block to repair. This can be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not really a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician. My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.
