I have a side by side Whirlpool fridge and the ice maker is not working. If I have it turned on (lever down) and door is closed and water leaks out the front of the ice dispenser and it doesn't seem to make any ice (freezer is fine though)....the water dispenser works fine and this is not a problem. I ordered a new water filter for the bottom of the fridge just in case and waiting for it to come here next week. No ice seems to getting made and none goes in the ice box inside only water leaks out the front when the ice maker is turned on....help!

How old is the fridge? Mine lieterally caught on fire at the start device last weekend. My fridge was manufactured in July 2001. Be careful, The fridge I have is model# ED5FHGXKQ00. I am currently requesting a recall be made by Whirlpool on this appliance.
Other than that it could just be that the ice maker line has frozen or the "arm" in the ice chest is stuck and can't raise itself to pump water directly into the ice trays. Either way be very careful. I hope this was helpful.

Ice maker in Maytag side by side refrigerator, every time I turn it on,it freezes up, I had it replaced didn't work. What do I do?

Most likely the leaking is causing the unit to ice over. Since you had the unit replaced and the problem continued, likey the water pressure into the ice maker is low. The ice maker requires a minimum water pressure to close properly.

Make sure the shutoff valve that feeds the fridge is opened all the way.

Does cold water from fridge door run slow?
If yes, likely the water filter in the fridge needs replaced.

If you have an RO filter that feeds the fridge, they are notorious for this problem and require special installation.

Model #WSF26C2EXY02. Why is ice maker not making ice?

When the ice-tray is full it pushes 'UP' a lever that shuts the water supply off. When you move the lever down all goes back to normal.

Ice maker not working just changed the filter water works but ice maker not working

Check the plastic lever on the door. It usually moves closed when the door is shut to turn ice maker on. The lever can freeze and stop the ice maker.

KitchenAid ice dispenser tray is dry - not working

Put some water in the ice mold is what I would try. wait and see if the ice maker harvest a batch. If it does drop a batch but no more then the water valve is probably shot. The ice maker itself controls the water. It does this by filling the ice mold for 7.5 seconds. Here is your Ice maker repair manual and some repair photos along with a pictorial which snows how to check the water valve.

Intermittent flapping noise whirlpool fridge freezer

Hi: Go easy on my rating as this is just something to try. You say it dosn't have a dispenser. Does it have an Ice maker? If so is it hooked up? If not try raising the lever on the ice maker up to the off position. The water valve may ve trying to open and without water pressure it will make a noise. It would also be related to the switches on the door. I hope this helps, Jeff

Whirlpool Fridge makes a loud dripping sound all the time G56SHE

Erin,

The water you hear sounds like it's coming from the automatic defroster in the freezer compartment. It runs down a drain tube into the pan you describe under the fridge. The pan is heated and evaporates the water.

Just some possible explanations if you are hearing "lots" of water"

* You may be in a warmer, more humid climate
* The temperature and humidity in your dwelling is elevated
* The door gasket on the freezer may be leaking
* The freezer is too full
* The freezer door is not closing properly
* The freezer door is being left open for extended periods
* There is a problem with the defrost cycle

If you are hearing water running all the time, check the ice maker water line and fill valve (if you have an ice maker) - there could be a leak or other malfunction.

The ice maker in my whirlpool gold refrigerator Model No, GR2FHTXTBOO, is not working.

Hello jitkagardner,
Welcome

You said, The ice maker in my whirlpool gold refrigerator Model No, GR2FHTXTBOO, is not working.

How old is the fridge?
When have you last changed the water filter.
Should be down below at the front grille!
Try these tasks!

If the ice maker is not producing ice or not enough ice
Refrigerator connected to a water supply and the supply
shutoff valve turned on? Connect refrigerator to water
supply and turn water shutoff valve fully open.
• Kink in the water source line? A kink in the line can reduce
water flow. Straighten the water source line.
• Ice maker turned on? Make sure wire shutoff arm or switch
(depending on model) is in the ON position.
• New installation? Wait 24 hours after ice maker installation
for ice production to begin. Wait 72 hours for full ice
production.
• Freezer door closed completely? Firmly close the freezer
compartment door. If the freezer compartment door will not
close all the way, see "The doors will not close completely."
• Large amount of ice recently removed? Allow 24 hours for
ice maker to produce more ice.
• Ice cube jammed in the ice maker ejector arm?
Remove ice from the ejector arm with a plastic utensil.
• Water filter installed on the refrigerator? Remove filter and
operate ice maker. If ice volume improves, then the filter may
be clogged or incorrectly installed. Replace filter or reinstall it
correctly.
• Reverse osmosis water filtration system connected to
your cold water supply? This can decrease water pressure.

Let me know how it goes!
