My InFocus ScreenPlay 4800 DLP Multimedia Projector fell a few feet to the floor. There is now a white vertical line on the right. It doesn't look like a crack. Rather, it looks like the wiring for that column came loose. I've never had the lid off. I figure the wisest course is to ask first. What to look for; what to be careful of, etc. Is there a free or cheap service manual available? I have an electronics engineering degree, GRC (when it was called a first phone), and many years experience in electronics, radio (ham and commercial), TV, computers, pro audio, etc. Thanks in advance. -Mike Curtis

Well since you have a degree I'll skip all the hand holding stuff. You need to remove the front back and top and then remove the power input, ballast and emi shield or whatever you call it. now you should see the main board. You could have jarred loose the connection between the main and dmd board or broke the solder on either boards where the connection is. Check with a magnifying glass or microscope if you have them. The main board kind of plugs into the bottom of the dmd board. If the solder looks intact, reseat the main to the dmd board. That is one possible fix. Another fix-- you could remove the little silver clip on top of the lens assy, unscrew the screws that hold the dmd on, take the dmd apart and clean the contacts that are on the part that looks like a cpu with a mirror in the middle and clean the contacts on the board (with board cleaner) put it back together and hope for the best. If none of the above work, then the main or dmd assy are shot.

What causes white vertical lines on dlp projector?

Possible fault on the mother board as there are noise on the LCD display. You might need help to sort this out if the fault does not clear even after the lamp works for some times.

I have an infocus 4805 screenplay projector and i was using it when there was a pop and then i lost all color in my projector now its only black and white the bulb filter is clean what do i do.

Your projector is DLP technology. It employs a "color wheel" to provide colors other than blank/white. That "pop" you heard unfortunately may have been a malfunction of the color wheel mechanism, probably the motor. (It runs at very high RPM)

Sounds like you may have to find a shop to service your projector.

White Vertical line in the screen.

Again, this sounds like a light tunnel failure. See my other post about this.
I replaced my light tunnel with square brass tubing I picked up at the hobby shop.
