I bought A "new" pyramid phase iii meter model SWR-14 off of ebay. It came wrapped in bubble wrap without any instructions. Where can I download th manual? thanks

Chances are you have an issue with the main board. Those can be purchased on eBay for around $20.00. If you go the route of changing that board be sure to match the number of your board that is in the TV, don't search by model number as this model used several different boards and some are not interchangeable. One word of caution, use static precautions when handling the board, it should come in a static proof bag of wrapped in static bubble wrap ( generally pink in color) be at the set before unpacking the new board, just walking across carpet with it in your hand can damage a good board.Good luck!!

First verify wire connections (use a Volt/Ohm meter if you have one). Second, verify RESISTANCE in the smoke unit coil wire. Chances are it will be "Open" and reading zero (0) resistance. Acquire new wiring through eBay or Amazon ... and re-wrap the wiring as per the number of wraps as per your Lionel Repair Manual.

The best idea to wrap a vase i to use bubble wrap. You should first of all gather some bubble wrap or some clothes and put them inside the vase so to roughly fill its emptiness. Then wrap a lot of bubble wrap around the vase, both on the sides and on top and bottom, rolling the wrap round and round and fixing it with tape. make sure its well padded and soft on all sides and corners. Then place the vase in a small carton box that fits it entirely and fill the remaining space with more bubble wrap so that the vase won't have enough room to move around. Then close the box well and write FRAGILE in red on the box.

Wrap paper around your "Pyramid Car Amplifier". It will then be the shape of at least your "pyramid"! :)

Hello Randy, do you have a fiberglass or stainless whip? What is your SWR & power meter readings now? --- The stainless whip may be creating a feedback and picking up static from transformers. Do you have a power microphone? If so you need to use a modulation meter to set it for 100% modulation. It could also be causing the crackling, that or your engine alternator.

A 1:1 SWR implies a perfect match between all elements of the antenna system...this is what you want. If an antenna system is not working well, the power reflected by the antenna will travel back through the transmission line and arrive at the output of the transceiver. From a practical point of view, SWR numbers in the range from 1:1 to 1.5:1 are considered to be very good, meaning that the antenna is radiating most of the power sent to it...

I would not recommend tweaking the boards on the realistic radios. You can however tune your whip. Start by making a base coil with some copper wire, 14 gauge will work. Run one end under the whip mount end and then tightly wrap the wire around the base of the whip. Experiment with 20 - 30 wraps for best performance & SWR.

The Astatic 575M6, or the Sadelta MB-4(hard to find) are very good power microphones that will help with modulation and peak power transmissions. Let me know if you need more help with tuning, if the "crackling" is still there.
