I have an Estate washing machine that's making loud whining/humming noise during the spin cycle only. The machine works fine except for the noise. What should I check for? Could be bearing. Thanks.
Yes, bearing, most definitely. It is a cheap part but difficult to replace.
If the bearing is damaged a lot you should be able to feel that while manually moving the empty drum. It becomes slightly loose and allows drum to be moved axially (sort of in and out) and/or sideways (left-right, up-down). Since you hear whining it means that seals on bearing are gone too so it rotates without lubricant. It might be possible to hear whining while you rotate empty drum manually.

There is a loud whining noise during the spin cycle?
SOURCE: Washing machine making whining noise during spin only
Its a bearing on its way out. the seal is also probably worn.
Hello friend, thank you for your inquiry!
Based off the information you have provided you are hearing a loud screeching noise during the spin cycle on your Electrolux washer. You will hear a certain amount of motor whine during the spin cycle this is a normal operation of your appliance. -Matt

Thanks for your feed back dauphine. Greatly appreciated. I called Whirlpool to complain about the problem and even thought it is five months over the manufactures warranty they said they would fix it for free. It pays to speak up. Thanks.
makes noice like it is grinding with metal parts may be need lubrication on spining ball brearing does machine has ball bearing ???
We have hard water in our area so the repair technician suggested to run an empty load with some vinegar to remove the calcium around the bearings, and it actually worked till this day (3 years later).
