There is a small white peice of plastic on the side of the card, it slides, try it in both positions until message goes away. The white lever should be slid towards the gold contact end.

How did my memory card get protected

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

I have a V1003. It is saying memory card is protected (reset switch on memory card).

move the switch on the memory card, then put it back into the camera, if its still locked, take the card out and look did the switch move to the other posititon? if it did, then something is touching the lever as you put it in the camera.
if it did not move but the card is still locked. try formatting the card with the format option in your camera, if that doesn't help then the sensor in the camera that detects if the lever is on the locked position or not is jammed and thinks the card is locked, to fix the problem the sensor needs to be fixed, you need to take the entire camera apart to get to it.

I have a V1003. It is saying memory card is protected (reset switch on memory card).

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked/protected", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Other causes include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card (which you said you've tried), or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link.

I'm trying to delete pictures; When I hit "delete", nothing happens

Check this card with your PC , make sure that the protect switch on the memory card is not put ON.
If so check on the side for this small lever to be moved off. this might solve the issue.

When I try to take a picture with my camera, it says, "memory card is protected (reset switch on memory card)." But we can't figure out how to reset the switch! How do we fix this problem?

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

When camera is turned on it says memory card is

If you're using an SD card, it doesn't have a reset switch. It does have a switch to lock (protect) and unlock the card. It should be in the unlocked position.

It says my memory card is protected

On the side of the memory card, there is a small slider that locks and protects the memory card from being overwritten. Yours may be in the locked position. Simply pull out your memory card form your camera and unlock your memory card by sliding the tab.
Hope this helps,

Screen is saying Memory card is protected (reset switch on memory card) and it won't take pictures.

if you have tried to set the switch to unlocke on your SD card, and still have this problem, you may need to open your camera to check the SD card slot.
