Printer does not move page fully thru rollers.

Dell MFP1600n Printer does not move each page fully thru rollers. Halts halfway, every time. To complete each print, we just open front door and close, then it resumes rolling the page thru correctly. Print quaility is fine, toner and drum fine, fuser is fine, menu settings all fine. Rollers clean and no sign of damage or excess wear. Not jams, it just halts halfway. . Slight wrinkle across page only. Makes no difference if front or rear discharge is used, same behavior.

Rollers may look good but it sounds like they need to be replaced. You will need the separation and pick up rollers.

SOURCE: Pages full of toner / toner streaking

First off, this is a comment from a random person who may or may not know ALOT about these printers and toner/printer design in general. All toners are not designed to the same specification. Toner is a combination of plastic "pigment" and iron like shavings to make it magentically attracted to the electrical charges within the unit. Different toners conform to different grades and mainly size of the particles within the blend. The manufacturer doesnt only recommend that you use their toner to make them money, yes of course it makes money, but its because when the unit is designed it is designed to use a certain grade of toner, trust me if you put the non-branded toner vs the branded toner under a microscope you would see quite a difference. Often the non-branded toner is much larger in particle size (obviousely because its cheaper to make at this spec). This causes a variety of issues from excess toner not being cleaned off of developer rollers, IDT rollers, or clogging of toner dispenser tubes in the unit and the micro filters contained at the toner dispenser assy and developer assys. Also as for the issue not changing when switching to dell branded toner - the dispenser tubes within this unit contain up to 500-1000 pages worth of toner, making no change in toner you make immediately visible. Also depending on the damage caused by the previous toner, it may not be able to be fixed until all the components in between the toner and final delivery (drum cart) are replaced. In this case more than likely the toner dispenser assy, all developer assy's, and drum cartridge need to be replaced, and than be sure to stick with factory branded toner :)

SOURCE: Paper jam on back rollers

If it jams every time while printing only 1 page and stops just past the exit of the fuser unit, it is most likely that there is a problem with the paper exit sensor on the fuser unit. We have many of the 1700N printers and have seen several times that the paper exit sensor actuator arm gets broken off when removing a paper jam.

Replaced transfer roller and now the printer makes a ticking noise

What you are hearing is actually the transfer roller.

As the printer is moving paper thru the machine, the transfer roller is also moving.

There is a clear lucite/plastic window on the transfer roller unit.

There is a sensor that reads light through that window. when the transfer roller fills up with waste toner, the light no longer can pass through this window, and you get that "change transfer roller" message.

Prior to "filling up", that window is kept clean of dusty toner by a small plastic " flapper" that goes round and round, flapping that window clean.

That is the noise you hear. It is not going to harm your printer in any way, however, you just happened to get a noisy unit.

If this is a brand new, genuine Dell replacement part, I would contact Dell and have them send you another one, telling them that the new one is defective and excessively noisy.

If it is an after market, or refurbished replacement, you probably got it at a discount, and as I said, it will not hurt your printer, it is just going to be a little noisy

When should the fuser and rollers be replaced on the Dell 3110cn?

Fuser life is 100,000 pages.

Pickup and transport rollers - replace when defective - no 'fixed' life, but if you are replacing fuser, it's worth changing the pickup and transport rollers at the same time.

Note Transfer belt also has a 100,000 page life.

Frequent paper jams on a Dell 1600n AIO, sometimes doesn't grab the paper from the tray (not really a jam, just need to open and close tray), sometimes gets caught halfway through the path -- need to open...

This could be caused from the papers you use at times(weight). Call on a Dell representative to check it out for you if you bought it from a Dell shop.

Thanks

Dell 1700 will not feed paper

If your Dell 1700 laser printer is not pulling paper all the way, try cleaning the pick up rollers.

To access the pick up rollers. Turn off the printer. Unplug everything from the back of the printer. Take out the toner/drum and set this aside out of the light (the drum is effected by light). Remove the paper tray. Set the printer on its backside. The rollers are located on the underside of the printer where you just removed the paper tray. You may have to move a blue flap to get at the rollers. Take a damp paper towel and clean these off. Another possible solution is to take the grey rollers off and turn them inside out and then place them back on the printer.

The pick up rollers should not be shiney, or cracked and dryed out. If they are, they will not pick up the paper to feed it into the printer. The tires should have "traction" to them so that they can grip the paper and feed it into the printer.

Once you have the tires cleaned off or turned inside out and placed back on reassemble the printer and try printing.

We have a dell 3115cn, the automatic feeder on the top of the all-in-one sticks and sometimes pulls more than one page thru the feeder at a time. what can i do to fix the problem?

There are rollers that cling on to the paper and move it through the machine. When the rollers are worn down they do not grip the paper. For a short fix you can get something rough like sandpaper, brillo pad, etc, and gently scratch the rollers to give them some traction. This will temporarily solve your problem until you can get the rollers replaced.

Printer does not fully pull paper...

You probably need to clean the rollers that feed the paper. Check your manual or go to Cannon web site.

Dell 1320c printing error "no paper detected"

I had the same problem. I removed the paper tray, turned the printer on its side and manually moved all the working parts on the bottom of the printer - rollers and switches..

When I reinserted the paper tray, everything worked fine.

PS. I ordered and returned a new paper tray from Dell, that was not the problem.

Tally Genicom 8008

The residual image often occurs if the Transfer Drum cleaning roller is not located correctly in the printer, as this cleans the previous image of the transfer drum. In some cases where the printer has been moved or shipped, this cleaning roller may need to be relocated in the printer to ensure it is in contact with the transfer drum.

I believe the cleaning roller on the 8008 is located just behind the OPC belt, try removing this and clean the contacts at each and of the cleaning roller.
Ensure the cleaning roller fits back in the printer ok and give it a try.

Extra marks on printed pages

1.try stopping the printer halfway thru a print cycle
if you can stop a paper under the print cartridge and before the fuser you can check for print defects on the page before the toner is melted into the paper.

if no defects are found then your fuser may be defective, usually the upper fusers film sleeve tears -testing this way can save you from trying a new cartridge$$$
