Goodmans GPDR40 problem

Still the same problem with GOODMANS GPDR40 X-Pro personal Media Centre. After Initialise the screen freezes - MASS STORAGE
DIRECT PRINT
is displayed. Cannot access any files.
I have deleted everything and reloaded to no avail
Disk check has been performed via PVR Console and my PC and it reads OK, no problems!
Resetting does nothing either.
Has anyone a solution? Much obliged if you have!

I had the same problem like everybody else since 2005 . GOODMANS GPDR40 X-Pro personal Media Centre. After Initialise the screen freezes - MASS STORAGE
DIRECT PRINT.
I have suspected that was the battery at fault or something to do with the power.
Why?.Because i have managed to let the Goodmans work, but only for a long time when
connected to the main adaptor.
I use it to record Video from sky,Or to use the unit as a storage drive.
Here are the steps to regain possession of the Unit.
First discharge the unit by leaving the screen on when in direct print mode,
(Move the cursor down to access this mode, normally it does this automatically.)
Make sure the screen display stays on in order to help the discharging of the battery.
Having the screen on will not switch the unit off until the battery is flat.
To have the screen on press the top button again if the display revert to a blank screen.
Once the unit is discarged the the unit will turn itself off.
Now we can connect the power lead to the unit and start the unit once more.
It normally last a couple of hours or more, but it will stop again eventually.
My suspicion is that the battery charger control is not working right and
after a period of time, may be a year ore less, will cause this problem
to all these units.
I hope it works for you too, even if not as before.

Ciao a tutti!

Freeze

Check if the connection to the hard drive has come off. If you are a bit technical, unplug it from the mains (otherwis it will be live, remember), take the back off, push the connection into the hard drive, just in case it is loose. If the problem still exists, then you will need to take the hard drive out, and check the connection on the other end of the thin cable. That should do the trick

Goodmans GPDR40

14th August 2007 I've heard of this problem. The operationg system or part of it is on the hard drive so if something happens to the data the unit gets stuck at the opening window. A suggestion I've read about is to open the unit and try and reconnect the ribbon cable to the drive, it's a push on job apparently. Of course, this will invalidate your guarantee AND may not solve the problem. I've not done it myself so can't give any firsthand advice. Regards

GPDR 40

1. you need to install the pc software 2. you need to connect the system to your pc via the usb cable 3. switch the system on - it should be seen as a mass storage. 4. Start PVR Console and run a disk checkup - this should run without error - run this twice. 5. Try the unit now - does it work? 6. if you still have problems you can replace the files in pvr data with the following:- http://mustek.com/product_resources/drivers/pvr-upgrades/pvrh140-datafiles/pvr-h140_restore_files.zip good luck Ian
