Have a hp officejet 6500 wireless when i try to scan it says refer to device document

Scan to PC is not set up on the device. For this to work you will need a piece of a software on the PC that will be waiting for scan requests, and a setting on the device to know where and how to find the PC with that software. Usually both are set up at the time of installation, when it is done with the Full Driver Package, usually provided on a CD/DVD, or you can look for it and download from hp dot com. Download the latest and the biggest one, then install it.

Hi:
Make sure you go to Hp's website and download the drivers for windows 7 support. Also when installing HP printers make sure the printer is not attached to the computer while driver installation is preforming. Only attach the printer to the compter after the driver is installed and the system reboots.

Please power cycle the printer by following steps.

1- Unplug the power cord from back of printer when printer is turned on

2- Wait for 30 seconds.

3- Plug the power cord and turn on the printer.

Try to scan

Go to "program files" then "hp" then "digital imaging" then "bin" then "hpiscnapp" and double click to open it. ( in other words c:\program files\hp\digital imaging\bin\hpiscnapp)

When you go to the file, right click on "hpiscnapp" to CREATE A SHORTCUT ON YOUR DESKTOP in case you forget where the file is next time.
