My navman pin 570 will not charge. Is there a quick fix?

Kinda the same with me but mine stopped charging so brought a new battery plugged it in but still wont charge.
Called Navman here in NZ and they said its probably the socket (which in my opinon has got to be THE most stupidist plug EVER) and because they dont make it anymore only option is to upgrade to another unit (GPS only)
So Im going to have a go at pulling out the socket and having a go myself.

Forget it the charging socket/circuit is stuffed!
Did the same as suggested and also brought a new battery but no good.
I "hard wired" it so it has now a GPS only.
What a stupid plug they came up with (so much for supporting Kiwi made)
The amount of stress that is placed on the plug while its pllugged in and your driving,something has to give sooner or later.

tap on "GPS Status" (second page of GPS software) and be sure that the box is checked in the upper left hand corner. In the same screen, be sure com 8 and 9600 (baud rate) is shown.
