some dont have a knock sensor. the 2.6L does.
the 1998 6vd1 has one, but not 96, in usa.


I even looked at your ECU/CPM schematic,
for the V6, and it shows, no knock sensor,(usa spec car)
The EFI spark system used on your car dictates this.
as knock (KS) controls spark timing, (retards it at knock)
but some versions have no KS sensor.

if fitted its on the block top.
has 1 wire. and screws in on a simple stud .
some are under intake manifold
its just a threaded shallow hole in block,
its only a microphone device.

Hi Steve, I suggest having a diagnostic scan carried out on your vehicle. The problem may be related to a defective operation of the Variable Valve Timing or a defective crank or cam pick up sensor. The scan should pin point the problem area without guess work. Regards John

after installing the key, start scan and then download the audio driver.

you dont need to download the other drivers. just download the one that you need.

1. First Go to Start Menu>>>> Then Control Panel
2. On The Control Panel >>> Select System and Security
3. Then Click On Device Manager
4. Then on the Buttons under the Menus (File,Action, Etc.) Click on the Button that Says Scan for Hardware Changes.
5. This will Scan for the Hardware installed in your computer.
6. If the Cd Rom is Detected You must Re-install its driver. If you dont have the driver just download the driver using google. Just type the name or model of your Cd rom drive for example. " LG SuperWriter Driver "

i think it dont need any driver to scan if it don't work down load it from support
