Sunbinder...you will need to do a little troubleshooting. Turn it off again and wait 20 minutes then back on. If no noise or odor. Are you certain that the smell came from the blower. "Thru-out the house is a lot of smell. Listen closely on startup and running....any unusual sounds. ? Which fan are you talking about ? Furnace ? Vent like bath or kitchen ? If you are handy you can check the wiring connections to be sure they are secure and making good contact with tight wirenuts or screws etc.

Noise and burning smell from heater

Yeah.
Pine needles get into the heater box and clog the heater fan motor's "fan".
You also may have rodents in there, making nests.
The wife was smart to turn off the heater fan B-4 the fuse blew.

You should not have the blower fan running if all thermostats are set as you say. You either have a relay problem in the air handler or the zone system wiring or controller is defective.

Hello
Its possible the motor is going bad, more likely the blower wheel assmebly needs to be cleaned.

Have a look at the blower motor assembly for dust and dirt on and around the blower motor and wheel.Clean it off with a damp rag and a vacum cleaner.
Check the area for any trash or loose stuff that could be causing this smell.

Usually when a motor goes bad it will run for a while then slow down, then stop on thermal overload.

Then when it cools off it will restart.

I would have a tech come out and check the voltage going into the fan relay and fan itself. The smell being as how it is coming through the vents in the house tells me that the problem has got to be at the blower or in the area at the blower fan which leads me to the possibilty that the smell could be the windings on the motor. This could be because the voltage may be to high. Good luck on repairs

94 Cavalier had smoke coming through the A/C vents in my car.

either something melted in the housing from the heater core or the blower motor went bad. It could also be that there is a crack somewhere in the ac line.

Blower Turns off if ac unit comes on. No air coming through vents

This only could 1--2 things, a bad circuit board fan relay or bad thermostat. To check for bad thermostat, take off the front cover to reveal the 4-wire terminial and jump the red-wire (power)-cool,(yellow -y or blue)--- green--fan white-(heat)..........red to yellow-or y=cool. Thank-you-very-much!
