Does anyone know how to change the company directory recording?
This is the recording that says " for Joe Smith dial 301, for Mary Smith dial 302..." etc.
To re-record the main greeting on most Nortel voicemails, enter Feature 983. if your system has 2 digit intercom #s your default password is 120000 if your system has 3 digit intercom #s your default password is 1020000. once you have entered the password you will see 3 selections you can make .use the three soft keys under the display and select AA (auto Attendant). next press greeting and greeting again. next it'll ask for the greeting number your probably working with greeting 1. press record to start and ok when finished. dont forget to save the greeting or it will be deleted if you exit early. hang up when finished.
Consultel1,
I am familiar with the process you outline above and have performed it in the past, but I have an additional question. Can the main greeting be recorded away from the phone system. We would like our greeting recorded by an individual located in another state. Can s/he call in to the phone system and record the greeting remotely, or does the greeting have to be recorded physically in front of the phone system?
You can re-record the main greeting remotely by calling in to the office and when the main greeting is playing entering in ** the adimn mailbox number (12 if a 2 digit intercom number 102 if a 3 digit intercom number)and the admin mailbox password (this is the password you use to enter into administrative programming regularly. the password cannot be default to record remotely) followed by #. depending on the type of voicemail you have you'll press 9 or 99 to enter the main greeting recording prompt. at this point follow the instructions given by the auto attendant
Accomplished changing the initial greeting, but there is a second/separately recorded message that plays which provides the company directory ("to contact Bill press 1"). How to I change this second part of the message?
