SOURCE: My pool pump has a loud grinding sound

There is a number of things that could be causing the problem. The most likely thing is that a bearing on the motor is going out. The other possibility is that there's a foreign object stuck in the impeller. The best thing to do would be to DISCONNECT THE POWER and then remove one of the pipes connected to the pump. See if the impeller (the wheel with vanes on it) turns freely. If it doesn't turn freely and there's no foreign objects, then it's a bearing going bad. You should turn the pump off because it could damage itself further. Depending on your mechanical skill or availability of a local motor shop, it might be cheaper to get a new motor or whole new pump than it would be to repair it.

SOURCE: My husband changed the sand in our Hayward Sand

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

He broke the lateral assembly in the process and it will need to be replaced. You'll need to know the model number of the filter to get one. Then remove the sand, replace the assembly, fill the tank ~1/2 way with water, slowly add the sand back into the tank and replace the valve.

If this answer does not fix your problem, please comment with additional details prior to rating the answer. Positive feedback is appreciated once your problem is solved!

SOURCE: I have an AO Smith SQ1102 pool motor that stopped

no. it sounds like its too late for your motor , no need for a pool pump motor repair kit ,there is one on ebay . but it sounds like your motor is toast if it blowing the breaker... hey i could be wrong . look for a shop that has free pool pump motor testing .use your zip code in your search..
as far as using the bearings off them threw bolt motors. do what ya got to do, but you might find that the front bearing is a bigger bearing .. i charge 85.00 to rebuild a 2.. but you must catch them befor its too late 2hp new = big $$$
best of luck .. and if'n i was any help ? push on them thumbs up to vote ... thanks jay..oh PRIME THAT PUMP !

My bug worked great last season but this year I will find it stopped in the pool not moving, I will pick it up and push on the feet to get them running again and it will stop again, what do I need to

It may be that you have one of several possible problems that could be the reason for the symptom you are experiencing:
  • Low water flow thru circulation system
    • Dirty Filter
    • Baskets filled with debris
    • Clogged Pump Impeller
    • Clogged suction line between suction port and actual cleaner
    • Clogged/plugged cleaning unit itself
  • Worn gear assembly within the LadyBug

Switch is turned on but pump would not run. shaft turns by hand

It's junk made by Hayward. I've gone through two motors and am starting to hear the familiar noise of another motor about to fail.

I have a leak in my above ground sand filter, model 140. the leak is around the drain. How can I fix it? It is a Hayward, high rate sand filter, GM series, model 140ab. Thank you

Usually in th bottom of the filter you have two parts. The first is a piece with a screen that threads into the plastic housing. The second is a Cap with a rubber washer inside. Make sure the rubber washer is there. Do not overtighten the drain into the houseing

My pool pump is 2 months old. It is a Hayward 1hp

The capacitor is probably bad. It's under the cover on the side of the motor, Take a look and smell it. A motor shop has them, or Grainger

Hayward above ground pool pump will not start.

sounds like the windings in the motor are shot! but does it have a capacitor? if it does you could simply have a bad starting capacitor so don't let it hum for that will surely scar the windings
