Technics SA-DX940 Digital optical audio input

I just got a Samsung Blue-Ray player and i want to use the digital optical output from the player to the receiver. With the optical cable hooked up I gat sound when I first turn the player on but I don't get any with a disk in. I have tried setting the audio output to all three settings (PCM, Bitstream re-encode, and Bitstream audiophile) with no change.

When you say you have sound from the BD prior to disc load... where (TV and/or receiver)? Initial wake-up audio is usually 2-channel.

Describe the optical audio connection input to the receiver and any other audio paths that are attached.

Do you have other multichannel sources you could use to test this, like a cable TV box?

There's an obscure setting in the receiver called PCM Fix (on Page 21). Give that a look.

How do I connect my SL PD7 to SA-DX750?

Hi Fred Tromp, you have two ways to connect the Technics SL PD7 CD player to the Technics SA-DX750
The first is through a fiber optic cable, from the Digital Optical output of the SL-PD7, to Optical Input 1 or Optical Input 2
The other alternative is to use a 2 RCA to 2 RCA cable and connect them between the L and R outputs of the SL-PD7 to the CD L and R inputs on the SA-DX750
I hope you can interconnect the equipment

HOW CAN I CONNECT A MIXER TO A TECHNICS SA-DX940 AV

I used the manual downloaded from http://www.manuals365.com/technics/sadx940.html

Try using the final stereo output of the mixer as the input to the CD or Tape or VCR inputs.and use the switches on the fromt of the DX940 as necessary.
The specificatios state input sensitivity is 27 mY so your mixer needs a low output..
No reason it shouldn't work.

I moved and cannot find manuel for sa-dx940 need instruction on how to reconnet wire to t.v. and speaker

The Technics SA-DX940 is made by Panasonic. The manua as a PDF is available here: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/SADX940.PDF . The directions for connecting the speakers start on page 14. The connection to the TV is on page 10. To use the SA-DX940 as just external speakers for your TV, connect either the digital audio out from the TV (if it has one) or the RCA audio out from the TV to the matching TV audio in on the SA-DX940.

I hope this helps.

I am planning to get an SA-DX930. How old is it? can it be hooked to a phonograph and a cd burner to copy music from albums? what is the total wattage? Thanks, Ted Vidan

1. the manual date is 1999 if that tells you anything
2. It has a native Phono Preamp for that old-school turntable
3. CD Burner: yes. Attach it in the Tape Loop and optical digital input for playback.

The CD recorder should also have digital input(s) so you can can capture digital audio from a variety of sources.
