that is not the OEM makers statement on P0401.
truth is this. V6 engine? 3.3L and 3.5L???????
o2 sensor circuit no activity detected bank 1 sensor 2) means the right rear 02 sensor reads dead.
right bank down stream 02 is dead.
and has zero to to with rich or lean, it is the rear sensor 2.
the rear sensors are only to this bank1 CAT for good quality.
not told at all , what engine is there. v6 sure,3.3 or 3.5L
nor how the engine runs and car drives. ?
or if this is ONLY a smog question and check engine lamp glows?
causes of 401 are
wires to right rear 02 cut burned or damaged , loose or fell off 02.
bad o2 B1,S2 rear of cat bad
bad CAT bank1,
exhaust cracks in CAT sucking air and making any 02 sensor to read dead, near it.
this post ASSUMES , no other DTC errors stored or live running,
assumes scanned LTFT PID reads correctly and no B1S1 02 errors.(front sensor)
bank 1 or B1 is right front engine bank. (drivers view)
facing engine is left bank. (workers viewed)
ASSSMEs car is driven plenty not just parked in an old barn.
A DRIVEN CAR !
SMog tests fail too for monitor cat bank1 dead.
or incomplete status on bank1 cat.
bank 1 is the side that cylinder #1 is on then if you follow the exhaust back from the manifold the first sensor is bank1 sensor1, continue along the exhaust until you come to the 2nd sensor this is bank1 sensor2.
your truck should have four o2 sensors bank 1 sensor 1 is o2 sensor on cylinder 1 side before cat and bank1 sensor2 two is 02 sensor after cat banks 2 sensor1 is on other side berfore cat and bank2 sensor2 is after cat hope that helps when they read code it should tell you bank1 sensor1 or2 good luck
Bank refers to the side of the engine. Bank1 is always the same side as the number one cylinder. Bank 2 is always the other side of the motor on a v-6 or v-8
Sensor refers to before or after the catalytic converter. Sensor 1 is always before the cat. sensor 2 is always after the cat.
Bank1 sensor 1 on your vehicle - since the number one cylinder is on the backside of the motor closest to the firewall the B1S1 - O2 would be in the exhaust manifold on the back side of the engine before the catalytic converter.
If 4 cylinder engine, there are only two O2 Sensors - Sensor 1 is on top, Sensor 2 is at the bottom
If 6 cylinder, there are four (4) O2 sensors (Bank1, Sensor2 is on the firewall side of this engine and is referred to as the 'DOWNSTREAM' sensor (the one AFTER the Catalytic Converter)
if it is a 6 cylinder it is in the front of the motor next to the radiator. bank2 sensor 1. back side of motor next to the fire wall is bank1 sensor 1. the one behind the cat is bank1 sensor 2. make sure that is the problem. if code p0420 is the cat or cat's are bad.
