I replaced my lid switch and after putting the machine back together the tub is spinning wild, making a weird noise when it stops spin and water leaking from the bottom. It seem the tub is not locked in place. What do I do? Thanks in advance.

Check door switch: If
the lid switch is bad it will not drain or spin. Try this test: With lid open
let it finish wash cycle. Press lid switch down with screwdriver. Washer should begin draining.
Release switch. Motor should stop. Press
switch a second time. Washer should
start spinning as it continues to drain. If motor doesn't come on while lid
switch is pressed, replace the switch.

Does the tub move sideways. Try pushing the top of tub side to side at the top. There Is A Wedge That Clamps Tub To Spin Tube. Also try to turn tub with washer off, the brakes could be bad not grabbing. Sears parts direct has a good diagrams.
Hello- First unplug the washer. The out-of-balance switch may have gotten tripped. If you open the lid and look in the space between the tub and the top in the rear right corner you should see a plastic "arm" sticking down, reach you hand back there and move it back away from the tub. This lever actuates a switch in the control panel that will prevent it from spinning if there is pressure on it, it should be hanging freely away from the tub. Plug the machine back in and test it.
If it doesn't work another thing that may be happening is the tub is not engaging on the transmission. With the tub empty reach inside the top perimeter of the tub and lift it up and let it down a few times, sometimes this will reset it and get it to spin.
Lastly, i would check that the lid is locking when you put it into spin, the lid lock light should come on and you should not be able to lift the lid. If the lid is not locking you may need to have a F/P Tech out to replace the lid lock. You can test the spin by setting the machine to Permanent Press and advancing the cycle to spin. It will take a few minutes to start spinning usually.
Let me know what you discover, good luck. Best regards.
here is one trick to do. put the timer on spin and pull out the timer knob. open the lid and use a screw driver to actuate the lid switch. then with your other hand hold the agitator until the tub gets to a high spin. once the unit is at a high spin then let go of the agitator. let the unit spin for another minute then lift up you screw driver. it should come to a gradual stop and not a sudden stop. let me konw if that works.
Good morning! It's common to hear a loud thumping noise during spinning because the load (clothes) are not properly place in the tub. Please try to put the load in order & compress it down. best regards.
Is this a new occurence or has it been that way all along? What type of floor is your machine installed on? A soft floor such as pergo or soft shiny lino can cause the washer to be a wild monster when it spins. We placed a commercial type rug with a thick rubber back completely under our washer and that seems to hold it in place perfectly. I received this advice after a service call.
If it has not been happening all along, it could be that you have a problem with the machine being unlevel or that you do have a problem with the tub. Does the tub actually seem loose if you turn it with your hand when empty? Extra heavy loads will contribute to a wild spin as well, and loads that are mixed items. (such as towels with cotton shirts.) it is better to wash the same with each other and not too full.
Good luck to you and thank you for using Fixya! if you have anymore questions or comments, please feel free to get back to me.
A defective pressure switch can interfere with the cycles that depend upon the switch to indicate when water has filled or emptied from the tub. It can also result in underfilling or overfilling of the tub. The switch routes current from the timer control to the temperature switch and the water inlet valve when the tub needs to be filled. Once full, the pressure switch cuts the current and reroutes it to the motor on the timer control to continue the cycle.
Check to be sure inner tub is not spinning freely on spin tube. It can be noisy when this happens. When it's spinning and stops it may continue spinning for a bit when this happens. You usually need to replace spin tube, because the tabs that key into drive block for inner tub break off. Also replace drive block.
