The wired and wireless controllers can be actively connected to an Xbox 360 console all at one time. Each connected controller is assigned a quadrant on the Ring of Light. Before you can connect a wireless controller, at least one quadrant must be free and will be unlit.

Connecting an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller to an Xbox 360 Console is called Connecting. To connect a controller to a console:
First, Press and hold down the Guide Button on the wireless controller until it turns on.
Second, Press and release the power button to turn the console on.
Third, Press and release the connect button on the console.
Fourth, Press and release the connect button on the controller.
Fifth, After the ring of light on the controller and console spin and flash once, the controller is connected. The quadrant that remains lit indicates the controller's position.

Four Green lights on the controller's Ring of Light flash continuously

The Please Reconnect Controller message appears on the monitor

There is interference and the controller does not respond properly

Step 1: Ensure that either the AA batteries are new or the Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack has a full charge.

Step 2: Ensure that you have performed the proper procedure to connect the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller to the console.

Step 3: If still experiencing issues, ensure there is a clear line of sight between the front of the console and the wireless controller. If there are any obstructions, especially metal objects, remove them.

Step 4: 2.4 gigahertz cordless telephones, microwave ovens, and Bluetooth headsets for cell phones can interfere with the operation of the wireless controller. Turn off or unplug those devices and then try to connect the wireless controller to the console again.

Step 5: If these steps did not resolve the issue, the wireless controller may need to be replaced.

I had this problem and could not solve it after trying everything, until I realized that our HDMI cable was not plugged in. As soon as I plugged that in....problem solved!

My brother said it was how many players were playing ,but I disagree with him.

SOURCE: xbox wireless controller lights keeps blinking but

If the ring of light keeps blinking, it means that the remote controller was not connected to a receiver which is the XBox 360 console. Try to press the connect button on the console and the wireless controller to sync them together.

1 Disconnect all accessories and wired controllers from the Xbox 360.
2 Hold the "Guide" button down for three seconds on any wireless controllers, then respond to the prompt on your television screen to disconnect the controllers from your system.3 turn on the wireless headset by pressing the "Power" button in the center of the earpiece. 4 Press the "Connect" button on the front of your Xbox 360 system. 5 Press the "Connect" button on the wireless headset. The ring of lights around the power button of the Xbox 360 system should spin and blink once. One of the lights should remain lit up, indicating the port number that the headset is using. If you do not see any lights on the system, you may have a faulty wireless headset.6 Press the "Guide" button on your wireless controller to reconnect the controller to the Xbox 360 system. If you are using a wired controller, you can plug it back into the system.7 Press the "Connect" button on the top of your wireless controller to sync the controller with your system. You should see the connection light around the "Guide" button on the controller light up, indicating which port you are connected to. You should also see a corresponding port light in the ring around the power button of your Xbox 360 system 8 Press the "Connect" button on the wireless headset until the port light on the headset matches the light on the controller and Xbox 360 system. For example, if you are the first player, the light for port number one should be lit up on the Xbox system, the controller and the headset. When all lights correspond, your headset should be properly connected.

All 4 lights keep on blinking on my controller

You may need to "Sync" the controller to your Xbox console.

1) Press the sync button on your Xbox 360. The green lights on the Xbox will swirl.
2) Press the small white button on the controller (between the bumper buttons).

After a few seconds, the position 1 green LED should light up on the controller.

The lights keep blinking but nothing is happening. It wont connect to the console. What should I do?

It's possible the xbox 360 controller isn't connected to the xbox 360. Turn the xbox 360 on by pressing the power button, and wait until it reaches the dash board. Then press the controller syncing button on the xbox 360 itself and wait until the xbox 360's ring lights start to spin around. Then press and hold the synch button on the controller (located near the charge port) and the controller should synch up with the xbox 360.

I bought another Xbox 360 a few months ago, and for some reason, the wireless controllers take a couple minutes to connect. This happens for both my old controller and new controller, even if they're...

First Check the batteries ,I'm sure you did this all ready.
Second is the RF module AKA ring of lights has a weak transceiver.
This module is simple to replace affter the removl of the case and
three screws on the module itself . Then just plug and play with the
new module . They cost around 10.00-20.00 from many suppliers.

If you have any question feel free to ask.

Controller wont hook up with console ?

Is this a new controller?
Are the batteries new/recharged?

This is the sequence summary on where you are going to focus:
Step 1 - Controller
Step 2 - Console
Step 3 - Console
Step 4 - Controller
Step 5 - Both

Assuming your controller is a wireless version, Lets start!

Step 1 | Press and hold the Xbox Guide button until the controller turns on. The Xbox Guide button is the round button with the green "X" near the center of the controller.

Step 2 | Make sure that your Xbox 360 console is turned on. If your Xbox 360 console is not turned on, press the power button. The power button is the large round button on your Xbox 360 console.

Step 3 | On the Xbox 360 console, press and release the Connect button. The Connect button is the small round button on the Xbox 360 console.

Step 4 | On the controller, press and release the Connect button. The Connect button is the small button on the front edge of the controller, between the left bumper button and the charging port.

Step 5 | After the Ring of Light spins and flashes one time on the controller and on the console, the controller is connected. The quadrant on the Ring of Light that remains lit indicates the position in which the controller is connected.

Light indicator on console
Green light in the center- power is on
Green light on one quadrant - controller is connected
Four green lights rotating on four quadrants - ready to connect with controller

Light indicator on wireless controllers
No lights - no batteries
Green steady light on one quadrant - connected
Blinking green lights - its either its ready to connect or the batteries are dying

*Make sure that you have a fully recharged rechargeable batteries
*Make sure that you have a functioning/new non-rechargeable batteries
*If the steps above aren't working use another Xbox360 controller and follow the same steps.

If the new/working controller is connecting with the console this means that the previous controller is faulty - needs replacement.
If the new/working controller is not connecting with the console this may mean that the console is faulty - needs repair.

*NEVER TAMPER WITH ANY OF THE TWO AS TAMPERING WILL VOID EXISTING WARRANTY.
