Cannot transfer HD content to dvd

Polaroid DRM 2001G: I seem to have a problem with the dvd burner/player in the unit. It has been giving interment problem for some time now and it seems to have died. The hard drive, recording to the hard drive and play back from the hard drive seem to work fine, but I can not burn programing off to DVD's. Is the DVD unit in the machine replaceable, where can I get one, and it it a simple repair. Or can someone refer me to someone who can make this repair fir me. I don't mind replacing the entire unit but I need to get the recorded data off the hard drive,

DRM-2001G weak remote

The range problem with the remote can be fixed by replacing the LED in the remote with a Radio Shack 276-143. The LED is a lot stronger and now the remote works a lot better.

You may also find that the 'receiver' inside the cabinet is pointed at an angle instead of directly towards the 'window'. You can trim the rubber(?) to allow it to point correctly.

Polaroid DVD recorder need to re-set up can't see menu

If you're using a SCART lead, bin it and get a new one, this seems to work best in most cases

Hope this helps

DVR making bad DVDs

Three suggestions:
1) take it apart and clean the laser and the spindle 'hub' that the DVD rests on
OR
2) get a 'cleaner' disk that will 'whisk' any dust from the laser diode.
OR as a final suggestion
3) replace the DVD recorder with another. Plain old EIDE parallel interface units fit fine.
This is a very friendly machine in that it will accept PC compatible hard disks and DVDR drives.

Polaroid DRM-2001 G DVD Recorder DVD burner

I think the DVD player /recorder unit in this model is suspect. I have had this problem as well as many others and I think that it judy does not like certain brands of DVD's I might buy 100 or 200 blanks only to find that after 50 or so I start having a lot of record failures. Most of the time when I change brands the problem goes away for a while. It is as if the machine gets tired of one flavor and wants a change. I have found more trouble with -R's than +R's.
