If you think your washing machine may be faulty, check the following points before calling a Service Engineer. These checks could prevent a charge being made for the Service man's visit if the machine is found to be in perfect working order.Initially check the filter on your washing machine and clean if necessary, your manual should detail this procedure. If your machine will not start or complete the programme, check:
The plug, the socket and the switch, if necessary, with another appliance.
The fuse in the plug.
That the door is closed.
That a programme is accurately selected.
If water will not enter, check:
The hot and cold hoses are correctly connected to the relevant caps and that these are turned on.
That a suitable programme has been selected.
If water will not drain, check:
That the outlet hose is not kinked or raised more than 40° from the floor.
If you wish to remove articles when the water will not pump out, place the end of the drain hose into a bucket on the floor and allow water to drain out by gravity, noting that more than one bucketful may be present. Hook the hose into the sink again and try the spinner before removing the articles - if this fails most of the water can be baled out with a cup.
If the above method fails to remove the water then the pump is probably blocked - do not open the door, but contact your nearest Service Engineer.
if water is in drum then door wont open, drop drain hose to floor level into bucket to drain manually, then check filter or pump is it running ok if not is it stuck some thing in it , hot wash is cold water inlet ok or is this due to again faulty pump ...
The filter is located at the bottom front of washer.
Remove the kickstrip at the bottom, by levering off.
Unscrew filter anti-clockwise to remove and clean..
Be careful when removing filter, as there will be water come out.Lay the drain hose down into a bowl or similar to drain off excess water.
Please rate my solution.
Thankyou
filter is located at the bottom rear of the appliance... if its pump obstruction then to lay the drain hose into a bowl is a means of getting the water out manually.. if its a blockage and water wont drain this way then lay the unit down on its R/H side (not soap dispenser side)....then acces to the filter can be made without flooding the place..best if 2 persons were to do this as the machine can be heavy when full with water and clothes.. best of luck..
Fault code F02 meaning Motor jammed / tacho detached: check motor & module connections.. on the motor plug check that a wire hasn't become dislodged or broken...
This sounds like a faulty pcb and/or inlet valve. see links for prices.
meatballs77 - If you have warranty (the machine is less than 1 year old which yours is) or paid for extended cover then call hotpoint to replace... Hotpoint should be able to fix this - this should be free. call 0870 4422 510
Rememer parts are free up to five years - but there is a £90 callout fee after the first year.(unless you extend the full warranty)
Surely by now you've checked to see if your water inlet into the machine is good, ie turn on the taps. The machine wont start if there is no water coming in. Try the spin only function, it works??
