It does, but our loving friends at Hotpoint put the filter UNDER the drum and it can only be got to by drgging the machine out and attaching from the rear. The filter is the size of a large coffee mug, covered in rubber, directly below the cetrre of the drum and held in place by a large jubilee clip. Remove the clip, pull off the rubber boot and inside is a white conical "pot" with a ping pong ball in it. HOWEVER. Before you do this, if you are getting smells, first take 3 DISHWASHER tablets, throw them in an empty washer and put it on the hottest whites cotton program you can. Modern biological powders use bacteria to "eat" stains and when they get trapped in the machine, they can smell. Dishwasher tablets are made to wash and to KILL bacteria. It may help. Its a good thing to do anyway every now and again and it may save you a fruitless job dragging the machine out for no reason.

Testimonial: "many thanks fitzoriginal will try the dish washer tablet remedy."

My washing smells after a wash, but the washing machine drum does not smell.

A solution from the internet: Make a boil wash (with no clothes and detergents) put into the powder drawer a cup of bicarbonate of soda. It should clean the machine and move out the bad smell. Another: I have a front loading machine also and am not willing to have to constantly clean out the machine; the soap and fabric softeners you use are building up between the inner and outer drums (and on the drum itself sometimes). Because the machines door is so tightly sealed (to prevent water leakage) the smell from this buildup is awful. I finally found the solution. MAGGIE'S SOAP NUTS -- they are all natural (grow on trees) and will remove the grime from your drum and also clean your clothes (you won't even need fabric softener anymore). Stop using commercial detergents and fabric softeners and start using Maggie's Soap Nuts. They are not very cheap but they work great -- I have found that making a liquid out of the soap nuts and storing it in a bottle works better than putting them in the sack cloth they come with (because front loaders do not agitate constantly like regular machines, the cloth bag sits on the clothes and sometimes leaves a stain -- the liquid will not leave a stain. YOU WILL SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM AND HAVE SOFTER CLOTHES TO BOOT (without fabric softener so you save some money there). They are also better for septic tanks, the environment and your health! I believe Whole Foods sells them and they are also on the internet at www.Maggiessoapnuts.com Note: Also go to www.newstarget.com -- they are going to buy these in bulk to cut the cost in half but don't have them yet. You should be able to buy them there soon. Note: Forgot to tell you to run some of this thru your machine with hot water before washing your clothing to clean out the buildup that is already in the machine.

My aquarius WML540G washing machine has no obvious fault apart from I am sure there must be an item of clothing trapped in the washer because my clothes smell of when something has been left wet for a long...

Put the machine on a service wash, (that is a very hot wash with a good quality washing POWDER and no cloths) allow the machine to complete the cycle. This may need to be repeated once a week or month until you are happy the smell has completely gone. If possibly I would avoid liquid soap in future. But that is just my opinion.

Hotpoint WD440 Drawer overflowing

Hi.
I would check the inlet hose from the bottom of the soap dispenser where it goes into the drum for a soap blockage.
undesolved powder can build up here and prevent the water entering the drum
You can access this hose by removing top cover.
the hose is on the left side front.
This should solve your problem.
Please leave feed back.
Thanks.

WT540 Washing machine has a smell coming from it

Based on the front load picture you included with you description...

This usually comes from a build up of soap and dirt that you cannot get to to clean. It is in the inner wall of the outer tub.

You should run a thorough cleaning with a product called Washing Machine Magic. It is designed to reduce this build up over time.

Another way to reduce it is use a very hot wash and put 1 cup of powder dish detergent in the tub before starting it. (yes I know this is a clothes washer). The dish detergent has ingredients to help reduce the odour.

These methods may have to be repeated several times to be 100% effective, but a large part of the odour should be reduced after the first cycle. If more are needed repeat once every couple of weeks until the odour is not noticeable.

The rubber door seal on this model should not accumulate smell but it may have depending upon the machine's age. This will have to be replaced if it has.

Hotpoint wf860 washing machine leaking

Had exactly the same problem and it did indeed turn out to be a blocked filter - mainly with "Colour Catcher" sheets. Initially I thought the dispenser drawer was faulty so spent twently-six quid on one before that failed to fix it and then I discovered this site!

To get to the filter, unplug the machine then remove the bottom plastic panel at the back of the machine (2 screws). Undo the jubilee clamp holding the black rubber flexible coupler that joins the drum, drain pump and pressure sensor to each other. Pull the black coupler downwards away from the drum. Inside is a plastic cup filter arrangement with a plastic ball. Clean this out of various debis - along with the sheets there was £ 2.26 (to put towards the cost of the drawer!) in mine.

Hotpoint Aquarius WF 240 Front loader

first remove the soap drawer, this should expose locating holes for screws, remove these first, then remove the screws from on top of the plastic front panel and then the plastic front panel tilts forward to remove, taking extra care with wires etc the soap drawer is now loose still attached to the rubber pipe, which is now easy to get to for inspection, or removal to clear it out. first of all just check that the machine drum is not filling up totally so it is overflowing back out of the soap drawer, if so that is a different fault entirely and does not need taking to bits the same

I have th same problem, apparently a possible cause could be a partially blocked pump filter. Just trying to get infoon where this is and how to get to it though.
