It shows the name of the preious owner but is asking for her password. I cannot get in touch with this person. What can I do to change the sign on screen?
Ok.. here it is, boot up the computer and when you see that logon screen, press Ctr+Alt+Del on the keyboard (Sometimes you'll need to press several times and all the keys should be pressed simultaneously). You see the classic Logon Screen. Type "Administrator" on the keyboard and press enter. I hope you didn't mean the password for the hidden administrator account. If this is the one you've forgotten, do let me know. You'll need to download an application to crack the password. There's another chance, if you have another account with the administrators privilege, the we can set it after log in to the account using the command prompt "cmd". Good luck. I appreciate you for the Ratings. Thanks for using FixYa.
Sorry I made some mistakes, "Type "Administrator" on the username box not "keyboard"
Thanks.

Have you followed the instructions that i've given to you? if not try again, you can access through this, if you can't then let's try using the cmd prompt password reset feature. Do let me know. Thanks.
So i was telling you not to type in any password. If you can't follow all these, I am afraid, i can't help you further. The next step is going to be more difficult. Thank you for giving us your time :-)
One more thing, since you haven't reply to my direct post, I myself can't understand to whom you were replying. Whether me or to the other expert. I hope you understand.
Good Luck,

Hi. Try to access the windows advanced option by turning the computer on and keep tapping F8. If you see the choices how to boot the system, select Safe Mode then press enter.
Log in as Administrator. It should not ask for a password. Go to the control panel and open the User account of user profiles. Click on the previous owner's profile and delete it. You may also create your own profile while your on safemode.
Hope that will help you!

Solution 1 or 2 did not fix the issue. Remember, I bought this computer used. It is an old computer; I do not hae the password for the administrator nor the other user. The control Panal does not come up and i do not know which key is the cmd key. I followed your instructions and All I get in the end is the login screen asking for the password, een for the administrator.
