I have a sanyo vpc-e890 and its less than a year old now it wont power on and the lens is stuck out

The systems control board has detected a problem with the camera lens and shut it down. The lens is run by a tiny motor that extends and retracts for focusing, the motor has seized or the gears have jammed preventing operation. The only option is to take it to a camera technician to see if he can salvage the lens, or replace it.

I have a simular problem with my Sanyo. I know this sounds weird, but I have noticed if you shake the camera a little, the photo viewer comes back and pics can be taken. Also.. there is a spot that says 3x Digital zoom on the top of the camera, I also noticed if I put a little prssure on that spot with my fingers, the viewer comes back. I don't know if something might be loose, but thought maybe this information would help you.

The lens has a servo fault. This can be either the lens motor, the helicoil in the lens is jamming, or the servo drive electronics has a fault.

You will have to send the camera for service if you want to fix this. I doubt you can fix this yourself unless you have access to the parts, and have the training and tools to do this type of service.
